I guess it is new for Mike. Tuatara has been around for 16 or 18 years now. I remember seeing them a few times in the late 90's at clubs in town, but haven't paid much attention lately. I'll definitely check out their new stuff with Mike."I'll use the magic word - let's just shut the fuck up, please." EV, 04/13/080

dang, this is pretty exciting. i got on the tuatara bandwagon early, being an r.e.m. and mad season fan. i picked up their first couple of records when they came out, but they kind of dropped off my radar after cinematique. i downloaded their later stuff, the east/west set of albums and the loading program, but maybe listened to each of those once or twice at most. i might have to revisit those and give them a proper listen.
here's one of my favorites from their second record, trading with the enemy

also, now that i think about it, i'm pretty sure mike played on a song or two on those early records. not sure about the later ones, but him working with tuatara isn't totally new.0

Hey, just as an aside, do people realise a tuatara is a native New Zealand lizard?

I've gotta say it's weirding me out that this new 'super band' is named after our little lizard.<hr>

Yeah definitely not a new band, been around since 1996, the band was intentionally named after the tuatara as Justin harwood (who is in the chills and plays bass in tuatara) is from new zealandmakes much more sense to live in the present tense0

Oh, I see. Yeah I saw stuff about it not being 'new' after I posted & ahhhh, I see about a Chills member also being in the band. I hoped someone would explain the connection. Thanks.missisles said:Yeah definitely not a new band, been around since 1996, the band was intentionally named after the tuatara as Justin harwood (who is in the chills and plays bass in tuatara) is from new zealand
