I've noticed lately some chatter about Pearl Jam and Howard Stern. Gary Del'Abate, Stern Producer I believe (I'm not a big fan), tweeted out that he has tried to get an interview with Eddie several times, but he's elusive.

    Hasn't he always been elusive?

...something tells me he'd prefer it that way.

Howard's people tried to get him back in the Bu$hleaguer days... Pearl Jam's people wanted to send someone like Stone or Mike, but Howard wanted the big man himself. The thought was that EV had more of a name recognition, being the lead singer and all that.

  • Yeah Howard changed his Pj thoughts after giving a speech and transcendental medation which Eddie was at. He say dump crap about pearl jam like they didn't sell half the tickets to any of there concerts. Now whenever talking to musicians he brings them up. But maybe he is just trying to get them in for his staff. Couple of them are huge fans even members here maybe still are. But yeah I think he is trying.

He's never not liked them. Usually says good things about them.

  • When they first got to sirius he would say they were boring and they jammed to much. It would piss me off lol. But now I have hope they will atleast stop by and do a song.

Eddie will never do an interview with Howard Stern. Or any member of the band for that matter...

Howard Stern is a good interviewer, who controls the interview and asks whatever questions he wants. Nothing is out of bounds for him. Howard controls an interview.

Eddie - or any member of PJ at this point - is not going to put up with that. Everything they do/release/say they are in complete control of. I think at this point it, any member of the band would be out of place in an interview with Howard because they wouldn't be in control of the situation. Imagine Howard firing questions at Ed or Stone about their sex lives, followed up by questions about the firing of Dave A, and then more questions about Rokslide... Because you know he'd do it. The band doesn't need or want to endure that at this point in time in their careers, so they're simply not going to. They wouldn't respond and the interview would go stale.... I don't think it's in anyone's best interest....
Houston, Texas... Believe it or not, there are 7 million people here... must be a couple of fans who'd love to see you play.

I think they have ran into one another and have a few intertwining 'circles'. Howard is also a huge The Who fan and saw them on the Honors the Who thing and they killed it. Fred has also played bumpers of Baba ORielly and Howard always comments on how good it is.
I hypothesize that Howard has come to terms that he enjoys Pearl Jam. He is always funny about putting any entertainer over the top who doesnt/wont do his show though.

EV wont do the Stern show. It wouldnt be a good interview at all. I can see EV getting pissed at the questions and Howard is too stubborn to really let someone off the hook.

    nor should they.

and where are all those dudes who ripped me in the last howard thread? saw an article where the ratings for America's Got Talent are down over 10% this year (and 30% on the premiere show from last year). i guess howard really isn't all that relevant anymore as they argued. we will be seeing him on celebrity apprentice next. he can be the next arseni hall trying to resurrect a career from the past :D

the band hates to open up... Howard wont ask crappy meaningless questions like in the PJ20 movie. he will ask questions that us fans actually want to hear. this is why it will never happen.

If you had half a brain you would see what shows AGT went up against last year in ratings vs this year.. you should research before you make a fool of yourself

losers lament. never liked excuses. the numbers don't lie. and the argument in that thread was made that howard had so many fans they would propel the show to greater ratings. hasn't happened by a long shot. as i said it's over for howard. had a great run but the king of all media is dead. long live the new king (whoever that may be).

Don't get me wrong, I thoroughly enjoy Howard and am an avid fan... I keep my sirius subscription for him more than PJRadio... but a Howard/Eddie interview just won't happen, for exactly this reason:

The band wants to talk about what it wants to talk about, and not their personnel lives.it's actually kind of frustrating at times... I mean don't get me wrong, I enjoyed PJ20, but you can see how the only material in the movie is what the band wanted the world to see... it wasn't some indepth, unbiased documentary...

Howard will have his own agenda, which will probably be completely different from Eddie's... and that will just make for an awkward interview... a lot of awkward silences and stalemates....

I don't have Siruis, so I don't listen to the show. So I don't think you can consider me a big fan. I did listen in the mornings about a decade ago.
