Why isn't True Bypass an industry standard?

I mean with the amount of units these company's make I'm sure the cost wouldn't be that much more to make them this way? What's the deal?

    i have no idea.

    voodoo lab, which claims true bypass, isn't. it's a DPDT mounted to the circuit board. same with MXR (which doesn't claim TB). boss's FET switching is pretty good though it's not TB either.

    at least with electro harmonix pedals, the switch isn't on the board so you can easily put a 3PDT in it.

    someday, i'm just going to make a multi-switch bypass panel.
