He’s loved by the fan base not sure how you perceive it differently! Me personally my favorite drummer is still JI but never hate on MC he’s been a solid drummer for them for so long.
Yes. The majority of us love him. But apparently you haven't seen the posts complaining about his drumming.
Yeah I’ve seen them I always thought it was 85% pro MC 15% split between JI and Dave

Agree.  I think it's awesome if he does it, especially if PJ has decided to take another year off, which seems to be the case aside from maybe the few late summer sheds to be rumored.

Guaranteed 'Cold Day in the Sun' with Matt as frontman. Just like LA 2 last year, but with Dave on the kit.

Yup. Here’s just a snippet of his possible resume

You could even throw 3rd Secret in there. I know they’ve only released one album but there’s a second on the way and Krist Novoselic is involved.

Matt Cameron is the champion of the world. If this rumor is true, he likely will have performed with 3 successful R'n'R HoF bands (being nominated for 2). He seems like a genuinely nice guy, and a good parent. He quietly does charitable stuff. He's respected by peers and bandmates. I don't think life is a game, but he seems to have won it anyway.

Matt is the primary drummer and they will need a back up when Pearl Jam is playing by the sounds of those rumours

Maybe he wants to be part of a band that regularly puts of albums and regularly plays live shows.

I managed to get a ticket to what is currently slated to be the first Foos show back (other than the tributes), in a venue I love in my home state. It is going to be an intense evening as it is, and to see Matt behind the kit would make it even more so. So I would be pretty damn excited if it happened, but I am not exactly going to hold my breath either.

Cool. I am seeing them at Boston Calling. I wonder if Matt will be joining them there.

I guess that would rule him out as the person that keeps PJ from touring more.    It would seem with PJ they tour and keep all the members in mind, so they line it up with the amount of touring the members that don't like to tour are comfortable with.   I guess that's not Matt.

I would of thought at 60 that it's not easy doing a foo fighters schedule, then adding in some PJ tours, but I guess not.  He must be a machine :)

The FF touring just seems too soon for me.  I know everyone handles grief differently and obviously I know nothing about the individuals on a personal level, it just doesn’t feel right yet.

Yeah to be honest, this is the part that makes it really implausible, that they are choosing between Matt and the dude from Against Me. No offense to that musician, but Matt is a legend. If Matt were truly interested in this gig, Dave Grohl would have to think about it for about a millisecond before giving him the job.

Axl Rose toured with AC/DC for crissakes so it would be shocking but not impossible that Matt wants to tour more than the rest of Pearl Jam do, but there is no "honing down the list to two drummers" if Matt is on the list.
The FF may need more than one drummer if Matt said he can't commit to playing with them full time. Soundgarden split tour dates between MC and Chamberlain for this reason, if I recall correctly.
Yes and I heard it went great

Saw Atom with the Offspring in France in 2004. Dude was great but doesn't have the monster reputation that I'd say would be needed for this gig. Matt does. Josh Freese does hence my pick for him being the logical choice. Matt is definitely out of left field for this one at first thought-though the second one tells you it does make sense stylistically. Would getting into a tour groove be an issue though if you went with drummer A for the first 10 shows then drummer B the next ten (or pick some random other combo)? I'd hazard a guess that it would be. At least the studio doesn't pose that problem as Dave will play everything now.
