last casino I was at was Valley Forge (mainly cause it's the closest). Although I think Harrah's in Chester is also kinda close, only been there once. I usually just play the slots though.

It's actual name is Harrah's Philadelphia even though it's in Chester. They changed it a few years ago for marketing purposes.  Philadelphia sounded better than Chester.  It used to have a great poker room back in the day, then they moved it upstairs and then COVID hit and now they don't have it anymore.  It can be fun on big horse racing days especially when the outside area is open with the bar.

I'm also of the opinion that Philadelphia sounds better than Chester.
    Chester is not very appealing.

For sure but going it’s not like going through Chester at all.  there is nothing around it other than Boeing, Peco and industrial sites on the north/ Philly side.  Past it South/Towards Delaware is the Prison right next door and a mile or two down is theUnion stadium.  That being said I make sure I’m aware of my surroundings heading out of that place.  Although that’s not much different than how I react coming out of AC Casinos. Although haven’t been in AC in years.

A friend of mine is going to this Phish Mexico jawn and it got me thinking. When is PJ going to relent and do something like this? I don't want to hear they're above this or some bullshit fanboy nonsense like this when it comes to the money grab. I would unload all the monies. Certainly would be better than PJ20.

We're planning a trip to see U2:Achtung Baby in Vegas in the fall. Very exciting!

    So glad I skipped PJ20.

My brother and his wife have done Dead and Company Playing in the Sand in Mexico 2x and they rave about how good of a time it is.  4 days 3 nights of Dead and Company shows, 4th night has another band. All inclusive packages. They love it.  Agree would love to see PJ do it at least once.  It's not cheap but would be an incredible weekend if they ever decide to do it.  Sure as fuck better than some off beaten track in Wisconsin.

That sounds like a good time.
    I'd do that.

Went to McGillan's tonight - an event upstairs

It was pretty cool - the history of the place.  Serving beer since 1860.  I was having water only (working, driving) but gotta assume that place gets hot and loud on the summer.
So many different places to check out....

Haven't been there in ages, but karaoke was always packed and fun. And pretty sure they had certificates from pre-civil war up on the wall. And, yes, the inside would smell as bad as the alleyway on a humid summer night, bonus when it's trash night.

On Phils front - anybody starting to feel like the amount of pub on Painter right now is overkill? Like the front office is paying journos to write this nonsense? Don't get me wrong, by all accounts seems to be the real deal, but they're really bonking us over the head here in the past couple weeks.

He's still 19, never pitched above AA (which was brief), I'd rather they not force this just to have him as your #5 when it matters more to me that you do whatever you have to do to cultivate a #1 in the long-run. I hope he's awesome, I know they're playing for now but I think the priority is to do whatever they need to to build an ace.

The Athletic article on Painter was like reading paint dry. (pun intended)

I went to The Palestra last night for the Philly Catholic League Semifinals.

If you like basketball , I suggest going at least one time and check it out. Some of the BEST HS basketball in the Country played at one of the most historical venues in the Country. GREAT atmosphere and a GREAT crowd(I'm guessing at least 6,000 last night).

lol fucking mcgillians. My old ass got in a fight, (not actually physical fight, that wouldnt have gone well) with a bouncer there recently’ish. He was picking on a girl who was drunk but not drunk drunk and it honestly wasn’t cool. Fucking dork was wearing sixers gear head to toe so I was being a dick and probably very Leslie Mann’ish in knocked up “door man!” He probably sees some stupid shit but what he did wasn’t cool, so fuck him.

I have been in the wrong maaaaaaany times, wasn’t wrong on this one.

Many drunken happy hours ending there though. Start at Time, then Bar then unfortunately mcgillians when I should have gone home hours ago

Also....a guy wearing head to toe sports team gear at a bar should never pick on anyone.
The fact that this dude didn't know that makes him the exact sort of ahole who would pick on a lady.

Pretty safe to say this was possible because House Dems now definitively know they have the majority yeah?

Yes, there were 3 special elections around Pittsburgh that the Dems won in major blowouts earlier this month (Dems have actually overperformed Biden in every Special Election around the country so far in 2023, but I digress). And Marc Rozzi resigned after pushing through the constitutional amendment for abuse victims and getting the House rules changed, and did not in fact change his party registration from D. There's your Commonwealth of Pennsylvania politics update kids.

Bryce Harper is gonna be back way sooner (at least as DH) than they said, right?

No idea, but I hope when he comes back it's not in some half assed way that leads to more surgeries.

This is funny, and however he wants to say it, what I figured to be the case the entire time...

The new WIP morning show guys were droning endlessly about Topper taking Wheeler out in Game 6. I mean, look, I think it was dumb, and the whole idea that this guy you gave 9 figures can't pitch to guys for a 3rd time is just absurd. But that's how he managed it the whole playoffs (and it worked up to then) and you had to expect he would do it again.
