2013 Tour

Definitely started a new era for the band and quite possibly the most loose and fascinating run that bled through 2016. 2018 tried to replicate but didn’t have the same kind of ooph. It really makes me appreciate Lightning Bolt more and love this iteration of the band more than any other I’ve been able to see live. It’s not so much rhe length of the shows (which was cool) but the fact that the sets were bonkers every single night. Granted I’m a sucker for the slow burn opening so I’m biased but I saw four shows during that run and loved every second but didn’t even see a top show. Spinning Charlottesville right now and I wasn’t there but it’s so good - Pendulum is an amazing song. Swallowed Whole might never get played again and that’s a shame. I’ve never been a huge fan of Faithful but this show has a great version and it wasn’t touched this last tour (which was a tour I loved).

Caught 4 shows in 2013, and Denver in 2014... 3 of those are easily in my top 5 or 6 PJ shows to date.

Hartford or Brooklyn 2 would get my vote.

We were living in Portland at the time. Caught the Portland, Spokane and Seattle shows that tour.....absolutely awesome. The Portland/Spokane back-to-back shows were so damn good.

I’ve been thinking this a lot recently. The band sounded so good on that tour.

And I think we took for granted how much they were unfurling their setlist. I just listened to Charlottesville and look at that chill encore. It's beautiful. Give me any show to attend in that span and it's that one, or Vancouver (love that set). They were in a groove and while some shows got sloppy, I think that's the fun in it. They were enjoying the playing and the process.

I was at the Portland show as well. Probably my favorite of the 8 shows I’ve seen since 1996. Interestingly enough, I just converted a space in my house into an office. Now that I have wall space to fill, I pulled the poster out of the closet where it’s been sitting for the last four years.

2013 started a new era for me of seeing more than 1 show. I never had the cash or time to do that. Was out west for that fall leg and got both LA shows and Seattle. For a kid from Texas, it was surreal to see those LA Memorial Arena gigs and Seattle show was everything I dreamed it to be. Funny EV had to get the crowd going in Seattle. I didn’t get what he meant. Until I moved to the east coast and saw shows out here. Now I understand.

My first big travel show was night 1 in LA of 13 and I just got the bug but couldn't go as much and now that my kids are older (I missed on Moline and Milwaukee because my daughter was a few months old). I loved that experience being in California, seeing the band. I want to see NYC, Philly and Boston shows. Hit up Toronto. What other band makes me want to go to Tulsa. I'll still travel, even if shows are shorter. I love the tight incarnation that I saw in St. Louis a month ago but that magic five years was awesome. Although I'd argue and someone can disagree, that the 2018 shows felt like they were trying to replicate 13-16.

2013-2016 was the best run this band has had since I started following around 2008.  We were so spoiled during the Lightning Bolt era.

Can’t disagree with this…speaking from personal experience, Hartford & Brooklyn 2 from ‘13, Denver ‘14, the Philly & Fenway shows from ‘16… those were ALL epic shows. We had it so f’ing good.
