  • It’s like the baseball HOF’s Mitch Richmond moment. Great player. He’d be a starter and all-star on any team. But the hall of fame? Then where does it end?

Kinda bodes well for guys like Utley and Rollins. Sure we love those guys, but on some other message board, there will be someone somewhere saying, “Really? Chase Utley? Great player. He’d be a starter and all-star on any team. But the hall of fame? Then where does it end?”

Haha I don't remember exactly what I said? But I am weirdly getting some satisfaction out of this, even though she's me 2nd choice. Her crew of hardcore supporters would be the first to jump on anyone else this happened to, and so far crickets. They fall into a category of making Progressivism a sort of purity pissing contest, so yeah I've been enjoying it.

Yeah I don’t remember either. Something along the lines of doubting her authenticity. Anyway you were the first person I thought of when I saw this.

Phillies ranked 22nd by law in farm system rankings. Could be worse I guess but was hoping to see something more promising to the middle of the pack. They really have to clean it up.

Amazed how the Dodgers just keep churning it out.

You are aware of who your GM/President is, right?  I don't think a strong farm system is in the future, to say the least.

I don't understand why they don't just steal all the Tampa Bay Rays development guys and pay them double or something.

Yeah but surprisingly hasn't been an issue. Like it's still the last reason they're ranked where they are.

Right, that’s true but just saying with this roster, anything they have is trade bait, rightfully so

And so holy shit, what a weird feeling. Within 3(ish) months the Phils and Birds were/are in the World Series & Super Bowl. In 10 days the SB, 3 days after that pitchers & catchers report, and the next day a parade. Wow.

Finally caught a show at the Brooklyn Bowl. Cool joint and is literally right next to The Fillmore. Smaller than Union Transfer and slight bigger than the Foundry inside the Fillmore. Probably holds about 500 people? And they have bowling there.

The PA House Dems easily won 3 special elections yesterday and actually have the State House Majority now. Who knows what will happen with the House Speaker.

More importantly, this decision was rendered yesterday:

Of course, this is only the first step, and I'm sure there will be appeals from the R's, but this is absolutely huge. But it's going to take political willpower as well, so having the House majority for now will be a big help.

EDIT: And in regards to those Specials, apparently all three winners outpaced Shapiro by like 5-10 points, which is saying something.

Yeah, really big numbers in those specials. Apparently hating America isn't working for those guys.

The school funding decision was pretty cool. Definitely a long road ahead there.

So crazy the season starts today. Should be having a goddamn parade today, too. Crazy.

Anyway, love this move to extend Mister Sir:

These new rules are so crazy. Jayson Stark was talking about players getting rid of their lollygagging habits. I think we as fans will have to get rid of our habits too. You could do so much on your phone between every pitch - now you gotta just sit there & watch. Also I have a feeling the pitchers will wear down even faster - ugh.

Hate most of the changes, so dumb. Baseball will always have a baseball problem, it's never going to do better than 3rd in pro sports in the long-run.

Don't know how I feel about this one - hopefully not an overpay:

    EDIT:
lvarado will earn $9MM in each of the 2024 and 2025 seasons, with a $50K signing bonus. The 2026 club option is for $9MM, with a $500k buyout. Alvarado and the club already agreed to a $3.45MM salary for 2023 to avoid arbitration, effectively making this three-year, $22MM contract a two-year, $18.55MM extension. Alvarado is represented by OL Baseball Group.

    Also Mister Sir details:
The deal guarantees him $7.25MM, MLBTR has learned. He’ll be paid $2.5MM in 2023, $4.25MM in 2024 and has a $500K buyout on an $8MM club option for the 2025 season. Dominguez is represented by Epitome Sports Management.

OK I like both of these, though I'd say Alvarado's is bordering on overpay. But damn if you're a lefty and can throw fire you'll always be overpaid. Now get Nola done, tick tock....

    Awesome.
Think I've gambled 3x in AC since moving back here in 2012.  Only once was it an actual "gambling session".
Used to love playing cards and then craps with any winnings, but work hard now to avoid.
Good food down there, though.  Haven't made my way through all of the places I want to go.
The love he receives is the love that is saved
