Set List

Ed onstage 7:30
Eddie Vedder Opening Set:
Keep Me In Your Heart-(Calderon, Zevon)

Pluralone onstage at 7:35

PEARL JAM:
Band Onstage  8:50
Band Offstage 11:34

01. Oceans
02. Retrograde
03. Never Destination
04. Corduroy
(Ed talks about riding a bike and hearing the next song the radio.)
05. Dance Of The Clairvoyants
06. Amongst The Waves (Ed sees some issue in the crowd and has security help someone.  music doesn’t stop)
07. Even Flow
08. Who Ever Said-{Ed quotes two lines from (I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction.  Just repeats title twice.  Less than 15 seconds)
(Ed stops to talk about the drummers recently lost and the one that hit the band the hardest being Taylor Hawkins who was close friends with Matt. Ed says all the lights here wouldn’t be as bright as what shined from Taylor and that this gives Ed an opportunity to let Matt know how much they appreciate him)
09. Quick Escape
(After mentioning a fan request to play the next song Ed talks about his brother Chris who worked at the venue as a rigger.  He tells a story about being able to see his brother’s silhouette up in the rafters when they played here last time.  Chris died in an accident.  He talks about how much he loved his brother and how he must have been loved here because they put a plaque up in the rafters to commemorate Chris.  “This is for Chris Mueller”
10. Long Road
11. Given To Fly
{Turns out Ed’s guitar teacher, Matt’s drum teacher and Bill Walton were in the crowd}
12. Superblood Wolfmoon
13. Daughter (quotes In My Tree)
14. Seven O’Clock
(Stone and Jeff figure they have worked together for 39 years.  Since Ed witnessed some events from this song when going to school in the area and they are playing local songs, they will play…)
15. Jeremy
16. Porch (During the instrumental break Ed reflects light off his pick guard into the crowd and up to the rafters where his brother Chris’ plaque is.)

Encore Break

17.  Lightning Bolt
(Ed’s mom took classes here and eventually got a Master’s degree.  Talks briefly about Bill Murray and praises him for how nice his interactions with Bill have been.)
18. Better Man/Save It For Later-(Charley, Cox, Morton, Steele, Wakeling) 1:16 mostly just don’t runaway lyric)
19. Elderly Woman Behind The Counter In A Small Town (played to seats behind the stage)
20. River Cross (Ukraine flag put on video screens at end of song)

Short set but they “played” 2 hours 40 minutes; mostly because Ed did not stop talking tonight…probably the wine.
Not a fan of the set list but I thought Eddie sounded the best he has in years! And the standing ovation by the crowd at the beginning of the show was awesome. The crowd was basically welcoming PJ back from COVID. Hoping tonight’s setlist was a “rehearsal show”
    Great small arena

Like many have been doing this a long time. This was not your normal rec show. This was a show full of emotions. Ed could have sang the itsy bitsy spider and it would have been awesome. It has been a long time since we have had these emotions and everyone seemed to let loose. The band provided that for us, as well as, themselves. It felt like the family was back together. Like being at the Vedder house for a sing-a-long. Such a personal show on so many levels. Now the next two shows in LA I am going to critique setlist, costumes, and pic design, Love to all!!!
BTW I kinda need a ticket for the LA shows??

Bill Walton in the house! Ed’s impression busted me up.

Show was great. Felt like I was baptized again. It did seem short. Fewest songs played at a San Diego show since 1993.

just getting to work this morning. Show was amazing. Had second row GA right in front of Mike, so sick. Some people complaining about set list or not enough songs, I get it. But the show itself was on fire! My ears are ringing big time right now, but so happy. Was able to bring two of my boys, one his first pj concert. Actually his first ever concert. He was blown away. They sounded amazing, lots of energy, all good. On to LA to do it a couple more times!

Thought the show was very up and down. New stuff sounded great, but they don’t really know how to use it in a setlist yet, and crowd responses were very mixed. I’m interested to see if the shows look similar over the next few weeks.

Head is still spinning/buzzing.  I had a fantastic time.  Great side seats on the rail at the 50yard line - could see and hear perfectly.  Perfectly juiced up so certainly not going to be the best judge/analyze but I had great fun and that's what's important to me.

As others said, Eddie did a lot of home town talking, which for me living in Encinitas near where he grew up is always fun.  Introduced his 1st guitar teacher, Bud, who still runs the local guitar shop, AMX, and does work on mine occasionally.  Also gave a hello to Bill Walton who responded with his natural arms wide open pose.  Love it!

mid-set Long Road for his brother was special.
The 7 o'clock/Jeremy/Porch run was fantastic
Best Lightning Bolt I've ever heard - set closer intensity.
Getting the mamasan trilogy was cool as always, even with the order mixed up.
Fully expected Ledbetter after Alive, but I guess 11:30 curfew drew the line.
Supposedly they started later because of traffic - would have been nice to get a few more songs, but with two shows coming this weekend...no biggie.

posters were available until venue closed.  Not sure if the design put people off or if they made more than enough.  License plates were sold out early though.  Love the $2 stickers!

Very good show. I’ve seen every Pearl Jam and Ed solo performance in SD since 1995 so for sure, you know it’s going to be a family affair. His stories about his mother and particularly the impact the loss of his brother had were really powerful, very Springsteen like.

But the tales about every place he ever set foot in while living in San Diego were a bit much. :) I think there were 35? songs played the last time they played the venue in 2013, last night there were 23. The new songs sound fantastic. I saw all 4 shows in 2021 and they sounded good then, they were even better last night. The band is clearly very well rehearsed but as some people have noted above, they haven't figured out yet how to fully integrate the Gigaton songs. The show felt rushed at the end, a combination of the delay in taking the stage and the large amount of talking Ed did. The final 3 songs were, of course, fantastic but overall the non-Gigaton selections did have more of a greatest hits feel than I've ever seen Pearl Jam play before.

I completely get playing tighter sets with a focus on the new material, which they are rightly very excited about, and it will be interesting to see how the tour develops, especially with 2 shows coming up this week in LA.

stage design was super minimal.  no balls or crown of thorns above the stage.  just a couple light bars...

Do you think Ed talking so much was intentional to allow him to catch his breath in between songs?  HIs voice did sound really good.  How about more songs with longer instrumentals?
