9 beautiful lights... dimmed.  But they are still shining somewhere for all who loved them and for all of us who were devastated that this happened, most of all the victims' loved ones, & PJ & PJ's crew/team

They didn't play Alive for any of the US shows following this tragedy. I was at Seattle 2 in 2000 which was the last show of the US tour that year and that was the only time they played it, and to say it was "emotional" is such an intense understatement... everywhere I looked people were crying and hugging and singing or sobbing or both.  Amazing to be able to share that grief with a whole arena full of people who mourned their fellow PJ fans and were broken-hearted that this happened.

I was at the EV solo show in Düsseldorf on 6/30/19.  It was the most emotional show and rendition of LBC I’ve ever seen.

One weird thing about that Seattle show... There seems to be a "pre-Seattle" and "post-Seattle."

Pre-Seattle, especially the Euro tour, Alive would get played in random spots and a lot of times, it'd get played early on or so.

Post-Seattle, they generally play Alive near the end with the lights on...or going on near the end of the song as it crescendos just after the "who answers" line. (Or maybe that last bit is my imagination.)

...and it just fits so perfectly in that spot.

That's one thing that gets me...they were all so young. It may have been different if they were 60 or 65 or whatever....but two were still teens.

    Crazy.

    So here's a question:

Obviously, Pearl Jam, Ten Club and the fans have never forgotten.

But what about the other bands who played that day? It had to affect them, at least for a little while, right? Are there stories or news reports from them or is this kind of a "Pearl Jam thing" since it happened during their set?

No idea about how it may have affected other bands after the fact, but as someone who is not a big fan of either Oasis nor Pet Shop Boys (Oasis I like their music but can't stand their public personas; Pet Shop Boys just not a fan of their music but they sound like lovely people) I found the Rolling Stone article from when this happened that is linked in 1st post here SO interesting because I was impressed that both Oasis and PSBs were clear and adamant about not playing, even in the face of the Festival organizers publicly criticizing them and also stating that only the artists that DID go on to play were honoring the victims and their families.

My respect for both Oasis & PSB went up quite a bit that they were so troubled and so clear that they couldn't authentically sing their songs on the site where 8 (then 9) people had literally died the day before during a set.

So no idea about longer term effects on other bands, but that was very interesting in that article.
