Why Should a Republican Voter Turn Around After Four Years of Being Labled and Give Joe a Chance?

I vote Republican.  I've been called everything from a Nazi to a KKK member for the past four years.  I've been labeled the scum of the earth according to some of your contemporaries based on my voting choice.  Some of you and your contemporaries never understood that it wasn't about embracing Trump, but it was a rejection of overreaching leftist ideas.  But after four years in which I've seen a president taken out of context, heard about Russia for four years, heard how terrible and uneducated we all must be, and have been demonized; but now I'm supposed to pretend like you are my friends and we are going to move forward?  How does that work?  I say Biden won, I don't buy into any conspiracy theory.  Just like I don't think most democrats want to defund the police.  But why, after four years should people like me all of a sudden welcome any olive branch from the same people that were beyond divisive from day one and constantly lumped me into every negative category they could think of?  I honestly ask why?
Simply put, if your voting choice is a "rejection of overreaching leftist ideas", look at Biden's record.
The man is not a far left socialist as Trump tried to paint him.
He has always been very close to the middle, obviously with a bit of a leftward lean. He has also had a history of working across the aisle. So that would be why you should consider giving him a chance.
He's not a "radical leftist", no matter how many times Trump said he was.

Where was the olive branch extended from you to the left for the last 4 years? If the right did not extend one why are you expecting one from the left?

Right.  The administration literally demonized me every day.  Not the followers,* but Trump himself, the GOP, and many GOP personnel. For the last four years, the primary enemy in America has not only been our own countrymen/women, but nearly half of us.  The left. The media. The "experts." Trump's true genius is in getting his devotees to feel like victims. And now you're acting like one.

*Well the followers, too and even worse, but my point was that at least Biden's not going to demonize you. Do you think the left is the enemy of America? If not, you might be in the minority.

Look, you said it yourself, most Democrats don't want to defund the police.  Jackasses on twitter calling everyone nazis has nothing to do with Biden and nothing to do with the way very many Americans behave.  Get over it. Some people are jerks. If we want the country to come together we have to stop thinking of so many of our own residents as the enemy.  The left is the enemy right now, almost in an official way. If Biden is inaugurated, the "officialness" goes down but Trumpism is alive and well and it thrives on domestic enemies. To the loudest conservatives, I will remain the enemy just like to the loudest liberals, you'll remain a racist.  Big deal. Stop acting like a victim. You're not.

The United States is probably as divided as it's ever been...certainly in any of our lifetimes. But if you choose to try to continue that divide because a few people called you names, then you're doing just that, choosing to remain divided.

A lot of people have answered your question so here’s a question for you....when I purposely act like trump around republicans or on forums (not this one) and I end up getting called on it I ask why is it ok for trump to act the way he does but no one else can? Totally baffling to me and not one republican has yet to answer me, only to say that’s trump being trump, so why can’t it be me acting like me without a comment? Not one republican can answer any other way then what’s in the play book - trump being trump.
So any answer from you? I can’t call you a trumpster but trump can call women dogs, etc. so what’s the deal?

Here is what you willingly voted for.

    VS

    "Overreaching leftist ideas"

Similarly, several reports have listed Scandinavian and other social-democratic countries as ranking high on indicators such as civil liberties,[493] democracy,[494] press,[495] labour and economic freedoms,[496] peace[497] and freedom from corruption.[498] Numerous studies and surveys indicate that people tend to live happier lives in countries ruled by social-democratic parties, compared to countries ruled by neoliberal, centrist and right-wing governments.[499]

So, overreaching leftist ideas - freedom from corruption and citizens being happy

Goodguy Trump with his non-reaching rightist ideas - finally some needed corruption and miserable people?

The fact that trump still hasn’t acted like an adult and conceded or been forced to proves that all republicans in all departments of government are gutless pukes. There you go, a new name for those who don’t have the balls to face the pig in office or answer our questions...gutless pukes

the same reason we should be asking where was the olive branch when we were being called snowflakes, fuck your feelings, terrorists, thugs, communists, baby murderers, and the like?

    it does go both ways.

I don't know which thread it was in, but i posted yesterday or the day before that i personally don't believe in mass-labelling. it's not necessarily about extending an olive branch to those across the aisle from you, at this point, it might be more effective to deal with your own house of dicks and stop them from being so fucking ignorant and angry at "the other side". i try to do that. i do it here, and i do it in analog life.

opposing sides won't listen to each other anymore. it's going to take the reasonable people on each side to calm down their own.

I could barely get past the "it wasn't about embracing Trump, but it was a rejection of overreaching leftist ideas" part.  You, like so many Republicans these days, are clueless about what "leftist ideas" are.  Do you have any idea how few people in America are truly "leftist"?   This is right up there with the nonsense of people calling Biden "a socialist".  Educate yourself, young man or woman (sorry I don't know which you are).

"Uneducated"?   You said it and have proven it.

And what's this nonsense about "most Democrats want to defund the police"?  Again, clueless and or/ inflammatory language.  Get real.

I agree with HFD from another post somewhere. He said he gave the trump people he knew four years to convince him that you all weren’t bad and sadly after that long time of looking for the good we’ve found none. If you voted for trump you voted to continue racism and white supremacy. Sorry, my (and most dems) moral compasses don’t point that way.

As Obama himself said - not even the far right fringe extremists parties in Europe suppress votes or question democracy as the republicans do.

It’s fine. I’ve been accused of knowing too much about you all without having posted much. I like to read... and like people’s opinions so I’m not stalking anyone.  I have the unfortunate ability to remember most of what I read, nothing like dates, days, numbers like marylou henner but a lot of what I read, if I think it’s interesting. I remember the first time you reprimanded me for basing some guy whose daughters were devastated when Ed got sick in London. So how fucked do you think my head is on a daily basis. 🙃Hahahaha it’s good to laugh at yourself first. Like I said, it’s fine.

He said he gave the trump people he knew four years to convince him that you all weren’t bad and sadly after that long time of looking for the good we’ve found none. If you voted for trump you voted to continue racism and white supremacy. Sorry, my (and most dems) moral compasses don’t point that way.
    where did I say that?
Did a quick search but too many postings to go thru. It was the night you posted in the middle of the night and drank too much. Maybe that will help you remember. You question every time I agree with you so you’ve made your point...won’t do it again
no, you're right, i remember that now. it just didn't jog my memory the way you worded it. it's all good.

as to your last statement, I honestly don't know what you mean. if I do it's certainly not intentional or just because it's you. I often don't recall who posted what, just so you know.
Like I said, it’s fine.
well if i can take anything positive away from this it's that I now know for sure that I treat most people as blank slates; I judge by the comment, not by the person, since i often don't recall usernames or avatars. It's weird though, i seem to have your same ability but only in 3D life. People often look at me like i'm an alien for recalling seemingly meaningless events or things people have said and people i've only briefly met.

weird how it doesn't translate online.

I honestly ask why?

interesting that the OP comes in and throws this bomb and didn't come back. i am not surprised. pretty typical actually.

after 5 years of being told to fuck my feelings, i can't give a shit about the op's opinions. and i am not sorry about that.

and to answer the op question, why should he come around to joe?

he shouldn't. he can hang on to his shrinking, dying party for all i care.

i keep seeing people posting this over the last couple years. what makes anyone think the GOP is shrinking or dying? trump got the second most votes of any candidate in history, did he not? how is that a dying party?
