You might say I am very conservative.  I believe in conserving water- especially in arid states, wildlife, natural resources, open space, and most of all, what little common sense and sanity remains in the good old U.S.A.

Trump and many (perhaps most?) of his supporters on the other hand are very liberal with wasting and denigrating all of the above.

Who on Earth would ever wear this? Even if you love Biden. Or...even if you totally hate Trump. Can you look like a bigger dork wearing a "It's Time to Vote/Ridin' With Biden" shirt on?

I'm actually a lot like you politically. Conservative on some things, liberal on others. I'm not a member of either party because they're both a joke. Voted for Obama in 2008, and then Romney in 2012. Would've preferred to vote republican in 2016...if the nominee wasn't Trump. Like you, I do think the band is sincere with their unabashed liberalism. And regarding your question about a MAGA-hat wearer wearing one at a PJ show not to antagonize, but because they wear it every day. It would be perceived as being antagonistic. It just would. People feel antagonized simply by seeing it in the streets. Hell, I don't have any true hatred for Trump-fans, but even I look at them like "Dude, what are you doing?" when I see one in that hat (just as I would if I saw someone in this PJ/Biden shirt). So yeah, I think it would be viewed as antagonistic at a PJ show.

But to be fair, this one is actually a pretty cool design:

That Riden with Biden has one thing most political shirts don't have and that is there's a design on both sides. I wouldn't wear it but that comes off like a concert style tshirt.

One, I honestly don’t care what the band’s politics are, just as I’m sure they don’t give a shit about mine. I mean, I know where they stand on most issues - collectively, anyway - based on their actions.

Second, I’m pretty liberal socially, and all for financial responsibility. Not sure there’s a label for that?

If by left wing you mean they care about people and the environment then I think the answer is yes.
Thanks. I assumed that’s the case. Was just wondering as here in the UK I tend to find most groups of work colleagues, friends etc are a complete mix of left wing Labour supporters and right wing Tory supporters. Aware though that politics in the US are completely different to over here. In UK terms the current US regime would really be extreme right.
Should imagine that like the Uk a lot of PJ fans are too embarrassed to say in public they won’t be voting for the socialist due to peer pressure and will vote differently in the polling booth.

No offense intended but... I just find it funny that people are labeled as “left wing” or socialists because they care about people’s well being and the environment.
Wait we have a socialist candidate in the US that I don’t know about?

I’m confused on the wording. Not your wording 2legs...like is this guy saying we have a socialist candidate, or is he saying they have a socialist candidate in the U.K. and Biden is like a socialist candidate.  Are the socialists in the room with us now?
    He’s calling Biden a socialist.  🤣

A lot to unpack here... what do you mean by "law and order"? The legal system has never been fair nor equally applied in this country. It is a fact that Black and Brown people are more likely to be stopped by police and arrested for the same offenses whites commit but are never arrested for (from driving without a license, driving drunk, to smoking marihuana, etc). Black people are a minority but make up the majority of the prison population. So, law and order for whom? What do you mean by "order"? As the racial justice activism, and the rise of Democratic Socialism have demonstrated there is a significant part of the population that believes that there is injustice and inequality in nearly all the structures of our society (law, economic, housing, employment). Do you deny the existence of structural inequality?. The second amendment, I have no issue with. I do take issue with people being allowed to buy military grade weapons and carry them in public. I assure you though, the moment more of us (Lefists, Latinos and supporters of BLM) start exercising our second amendment rights, conservatives are going to jump on gun regulations faster than you can say "Ronald Reagan". What is "true" vs "false" freedom of speech? Is there really a cancel culture? Seems to like every time a conservative screams "I've been cancelled" they end up getting a ton of coverage and support from the right, meanwhile academics and journalists are routinely fired for criticizing Israeli government policies towards Palestinians.

all of those things you quoted that he said.....boil down to one thing: all the things that benefit the status quo of white people ruling.

I would never blame conservatives for all of our environmental issue, especially global warming.  But the fact remains, conservatives and Republicans have proven themselves in general to be far more lax about supporting environmental protection legislation and far more prone to being climate change deniers than liberals and Democrats are.  There's no arguing this point.  That kind of opposition to environmental protection is why the map in the link below looks like it does.  And anyone thinking, "Oh well, at least it's in that "liberal state", I don't need to worry about it,"  guess again.

The new "Ridin' with Biden" T-shirt made me remember the concert poster Jeff designed, where President Trump was dead outside of the White House. It got me thinking of what the band might possibly think about their conservative/Trump supporting fans, such as me. I have no issue with the band's politics because they always seem genuine and consistent, they put their time and money where their mouths are, and are some of the most generous and philanthropic guys around. I'm not one of those "Shut up and play!" people. I get it. I'm not so delicate that if my favorite band goes on a rant against the President I happen to respect and like, that I am going to cause a scene, challenge the band or its liberal fans, or storm out. On the other hand, do they really want me buying their music and merch, and attending their concerts? I would hope that they would see past the stereotype: I am not white, I am not angry, I do not hate women or immigrants, my family and friends are very diverse, I support animal shelters, and am a big believer in the Anton LaVey tenants of Satanism (in a nutshell, do unto others, etc). On the surface, things probably look pretty liberal. But I am a big believer in law and order, tight borders, strong military and police, 2nd Amendment, and true freedom of speech (not the cancel culture/woke business that is going on now). I would love to discuss world affairs with Ed, or any of you; I just hope the same courtesy would come back my way. Finally, I would never do this, because I don't get into all the MAGA hat nonsense, but what if someone in the front row of a show wore a MAGA hat? Not to antagonize, but because they just wear it every day? Anyhow, thanks for listening. Fan club member since 1993, and with "Gigaton," these guys totally dunked on me just as I thought they were starting to slip. "Clairvoyants" is one of the greatest songs in their catalog. Peace!
    Wait you “respect” Trump?

Btw, Gigaton is one of their best album since Backspacer and that song Dance With The Clairvoyants is a classic for me. I can't till they start touring here or overseas I will there.

  • I live in the UK so my opinion on these matters is probably moot, but I would love to hear a rational reason why anyone would vote for Trump? Conservative or not.

If it's a case of not wanting Biden to win, I understand that as he isn't a strong candidate, but if we are talking the lesser of two evils then how anyone can pick Trump over Biden blows my mind.

I read a lot and know a lot about world affairs and I am always keen to learn from people who's ideas/politics differ from mine. Thats what makes the world an interesting place, right?

So please, can someone explain why they would vote for Trump? I won't attack you or argue, I just want to understand.

Yes we all understand how taxes work.  You clearly do not.

Capitalism requires a redistribution of wealth.  Income inequality shows you exactly why the wealthy should be taxed higher.  They would actually benefit more from that then accumulating wealth that they will never be able to use.

Our two party system has devolved into simply picking a team.  The GOP created its own news network and its own narratives to convince people (mostly poor and uneducated) to vote for their team.  tRump is their quarterback.  That's all they know....they don't give a shit what his policies are they just know that he's a republican and they are republicans.  Therefore, they will vote for him regardless of what he does.

    It's pathetic.

The band has always been open about where they land on the political spectrum, so nothing is new. The fanbase can and should be a big tent. There is room for all kinds of viewpoints.

To the OP...  you are exactly who I want to ask this to:

Why would you vote for Trump?

I asked this before and haven't heard from a Trump supporter.  To me there are like 50 things that he has done or said that make him the most corrupt and brutal leader in your country's history...  (To that point, if the guys in PJ feel the same way, I think they don't care about disrespecting Trump supporters and can do without your money. IMO)

But as a supporter... do you not understand why he is the most corrupt and brutal leader? And if there are 50 bad things.. what are the good things? Like what do you honestly see in this guy that makes you want to get up and vote for him?

I live in the UK so my opinion on these matters is probably moot, but I would love to hear a rational reason why anyone would vote for Trump? Conservative or not.

If it's a case of not wanting Biden to win, I understand that as he isn't a strong candidate, but if we are talking the lesser of two evils then how anyone can pick Trump over Biden blows my mind.

I read a lot and know a lot about world affairs and I am always keen to learn from people who's ideas/politics differ from mine. Thats what makes the world an interesting place, right?

So please, can someone explain why they would vote for Trump? I won't attack you or argue, I just want to understand.

Also from the Uk but watching this shit show from afar with great interest. Im staggered by the amount of people who have told me they dont like Biden but will vote for him just because hes not trump. How on earth can it have come to this?

A country of 500million (ish) coming down to choosing between two deeply unpopular people. Odd times

Put another on your list ...that is me!  I don't think we should elect anyone who has to serve in their 80s....that is brutal.  I don't like Biden much, but I do think he will want to help our country.
Trump wants to help old, rich, white people.  (And women as long as they will shut up can be considered people.  Otherwise ...just rich white men)
The lower economic class folks who staunchly support Trump don't understand that.  They buy his flag and bible waving stunts.  Also they buy that he is law and order.  He is only doing that for votes and to protect the rich.  He doesn't care about police or military....he considers them chumps instead of heroes.

So you support Biden?  Must be because “you ain’t black”...Ever go into a 7-11 or donut store without an Indian accent?  Yeah, Biden “ain’t” racist....
I guess you could say he’s not as racist as Trump, but I don’t think he’s in the clear and there’s plenty of questionably racist statements in his past, so you must be racist if you support him in any shape or form...including voting for him...
