Concert Virgin - Did I make a mistake not buying 'first' leg tickets?

Seasoned club members...did I make a mistake in not applying for first leg NA tickets?
I'm a 57 year old PJ  concert virgin.  Loved them in the 90s but then drifted away and came back about two years ago. I live in the PNW (Oakland is the closest venue, a 2 day drive, or $500+ plane) and seriously struggled about whether or not to make Oakland happen, or wait.  In the end, I opted to wait and hope for a second leg NA tour.  Tell me I didn't make the biggest mistake of my life??

Don't worry, more shows to come. Save up and get ready for travel in the fall in case they don't swing by locally.

What you are suffering from is a case of fear of missing out. You'll be fine.

They haven't toured much the past few years, so it's really hard to say at this stage in their careers. Hopefully they come your way again though!

Yeah, I would be shocked if they didn't have something closer to you in the fall. (Not knowing where you live)

I'm still thinking Seattle and/or Portland in the fall for PNW.

And besides, if you're feeling the itch, there's still more chances to buy. Keep some flight alerts and if something seems good pull the trigger.

I'll bet a shiny American nickel that they'll be in Seattle for a couple of shows before the year is out.

And if you're going to fly anyway, you don't need to pick the show closest to you. Come out to NY for the MSG show, or join the lads on their summer European vacation.
  • Thank you for the reassurances...I've been a basket case since the tour and new album were announced.  My regret is that I didn't get to a concert sooner!

Yes you made a mistake, after you see them once you will want to see them over and over again. But I don't blame you for not wanting to go to Oaksterdam.

yes you made a mistake. great live band. no flashy screens just plain cool music. old school rock show.  never take for granted that oh next time. done that and regretted it.  your 57 what else do you have to do. i can say that cause i'm older.  do things while you have your health.  beats sitting home watching netflix.  go to the fan to fan site and go see a show somewhere . look on the pj site and try to hook up with someone offering a seat. since its your first time try to get a decent one so you can at least see something. and then just take it all in and enjoy yourself.  it is all worth it .

It's not too late.  Once the concert is over, then it's too late.  :)

If you're near Bellingham, Allegiant flies to Oakland for under $100 each way.

As you can clearly see this place is an anomaly ( my big word for the year) meaning the fans here will do anything to help someone see PJ. We all want you to have your PJ experience. The choices we make re PJ happen for some reason, and that reason always works out. ALWAYS. :)
Be different & make a difference. Decency & kindness @ a grassroots level works.

I feel like such a late bloomer!  That's what I love about this place, so much helpfulness and positive vibes.  I'll keep my fingers and toes crossed!

My friend had to do some serious convincing to get me to attempt oakland tickets.   Especially knowing they'll probably tour up here later this year or next year.

If get the oakland GA tickets, I think I might sacrifice Seattle (unless there's no Vancouver show).   Vancouver/Seattle are my usual stops, but so many people go to Seattle, that if it's an arena show it'll be hard to get tickets.  If it's a stadium, then there's an advantage to going to oakland to see arena shows.

If there is Vancouver and a Seattle, then Vancouver tickets don't be hard to come by.  Last time (2013) they did a secondary call for those tickets trying to get more fan members to get them.  Vancouver's only every fan club busy if there's no Seattle concert right after.

I bet you’ll get some great dates on the next leg! No worries!

However, I waited nine years for them to come back to Atlanta and vowed to travel from now on if I need to. Since 2012, I’ve doubled my show attendance and can’t imagine missing those shows.

So, on that next leg, make sure to snag a date no matter what! The shows are all just too special!

Saw someone post on Facebook the other day that they have a friend that works at the arena in Portland and said friend told them that pj would be there later in the year.  Hopefully this works out for you!  Otherwise if you have the financial ability to go to Oakland then do it!  Go to both shows you wont regret it!

That's it right there.  Knowing they might tour up this way later just seemed like a better option, even if it's risky.  My husband and I debated it long and hard.  It's got nothing to do with finances, it was more about travel hassles, booking extra time from work, and convenience.
Did you opt for the Oakland tickets in the end?

That and no guarantee that Ed will be at ohana this year!  Have people not noticed that he is confirmed at Global citizens fest in New York Sept 26th??  Ohana is Sept 25-27.  I'm betting pj is on tour on the east coast at the time!  I dont see him traveling cross country just to play a 30-40 minute set in the afternoon at global citizens!

St Louis is only 4 hours from me but I didn't enter for tickets...an unheard of proposition for me as recently as a few years ago. If they play in the Chicago area I'll probably go (unless Wrigley again), but my desire to see them live is not what it once was after 42 shows

We went with GA or bust.  We both used our memberships to take a shot at GA for each night.   See how that turns out.  If we get GA's, most definitely going.   The hard part will be if we get one pair of GA.  Then we'll have to deal with TM for the other pair :(

I’ve been to 19 shows and I’m still a “concert virgin” too.
I’m just always too into the show.

If you can afford it...do it. You only live once and we don’t know the fall tour yet. Plus who knows when they play agin after this?
