Since all you winners and losers, saints and devils, whiners and diners can't seem to take the original post seriously (and , seriously, why should you?), I have renamed this thread to match all of our banal to brilliant grag-bag of thoughts and notions.

My thought for this morning:  if Shackleton's gang had to resort to smoking lichen and seaweed, life here in these modern times cannot be all that bad.

I like that about you! It's a damn shame that more people aren't like that.

Ah heck yeah.  If a person only appreciates the beauty of one gender, they're missing out.  Doesn't mean you want to sleep with every Tom, Dick and Mary, but appreciate their good looks?  No problem!

    A logical response, goldrush!

Let's make it interesting and add a poll (well have to count by hand since I don't think you one can add a regular poll to an existing thread.)

    So here's the question:

When you think of omnium-gatherum do you think of:

    A) A death metal band from Finland?

    B) A retail store in Singapore?

    C) A play written by Theresa Rebeck and Alexandra Gersten-Vassilaros?

    D) A collection of miscellaneous people or things?

or E)  The chaos in your brain?

I had this plan about 30 years ago that I wanted to open a shop with a certain mystique selling all odd assortment of unique items.  My then second wife came up with the idea of calling it The Omnium-Gatherum.  I'm not sure where she came  up with that term but I looked it up and, sure enough, it was the perfect title for such a store.  It never happened.

And so now we have this Omnium-Gatherum thread, sure to pick up a head of steam the way and old bicycle with half filled tires flies down a road littered with course gravel, broken glass and cow pies.  Watch where you go!
