Apple Iphone New Release 9/10/19

Is anyone even remotely interested in a new Iphone?

For $1000 I sure as hell am not.

Thoughts or should we wait for the "release" later today?

Nope. I don't want to be part of this sick materialistic society. My phone does the trick and even that is too much money than it's worth.
I find it sad people queue up overnight to buy it.

I NEVER understood lining up to buy something that can be had about an hour later after you bought it, lol or camping to see a movie?

It's all about "the gram" nowadays.  Got to get that Instagram photo out there first!!!

I just want to see the new features of the phone.  Why do I need it?

People want it so they can video something happening rather than helping like a brawl.
I see it all the time.

I really don't know how people afford to buy new iPhones every damn time they come out.  Or Samsung Galaxies, Notes, etc.  They're all more expensive than building a PC gaming rig.

I have an iPhone X that my service provider gave me through customer retention...I'm good.

I am not so sure they can afford them.

    There have been 10 Iphones in 12 years.  I've had 3.  Thw 1, 4 and 6.

There is no way I am upgrading if I don't have to.  The leaps and bounds in tech seem to be getting smaller.  Hell I only bought the 4 because my 1 wasn't usable anymore.

I asked people about the Ipad and Iwatch as to "why you had to have those" and not very good answers...  My phone does it all for me.

I got the iPhone XR last year and love it.  The battery life is incredible.  I usually get a new phone every 2-3 years.  Don't see myself getting a new one anytime soon since there really aren't many new features lately that jump out.

Face recognition is a no no for me.  Holding out for as long as I can...

This is true.  I know for a fact a buddy of mine can't; hasn't held a steady, decent paying job for more than 6 months at a time, ever.  Yet he's first in line every release.

Not surprised,  Here in Canada they say personal debt is a huge problem.  Unfortunately, using the credit card has become far too easy.

Iphones are for slow and old people.

I use an Android, but only upgrade every 2-3 years when it seems my battery is dying.  I usually get the past gen though and dont spend that much (through work its a dollar).

I have noticed that the features on these things seems to have smoothed out at this point.  There isnt all that much improvement from one gen to the next.  For me, it is the camera (which they all have been peak for like 4 years),  and the same few apps that I have used for the past 8 years.

If u want tech I understand Iphone is not for you, I want easy and Iphone is very user friendly for me.

Hated Galaxy phones.  Too many options on it.  Needed to be cleaned up.  Not sure about now though?

I just see Android similar to using any PC.  Its basically a similar file management system.  I can communicate seamlessly with my cpu, other devices regardless of brand, my Garmin watch, etc.

Iphone is so closed source.... and the fact that they keep you in the Apple umbrella to need more Apple products and use their shitty software and such sucks ass.  Even the charging cables are different than the civilized world.  There is a world of bullshit attached to it, thanks to that guy who wore jeans to press conferences to 'look cool' to his followers.

And then we have other phones in other countries that really make us look archaic...

I look at apple as pressing the "easy button" for a bunch of things.  It's ergo to me.

Though I prefer a PC for certain things the easy use of my Iphone is better for other things.

Sending work pics through email and marking them up is a snap w the iphone.  So maybe it's a better fit for me.
  • My iPhone 6s still works fine. I won’t ever upgrade unless it be inoperable

I've tried Android phones but everyone has had issues.  I hate that Apple doles out small improvements and everything is proprietary, but damn if the iPhone interface is hands down better then anything else out there.
  • I am an Apple fanboy. I have an iPhone 8 Plus and it still works great. I want quick and easy and virus free (pornhub). Never had any problems with Apple and all I do is look at the internet, txt and a few other things. Don’t want to be a brain surgeon to use my phone.

The watch is is the best thing ever. I love the synchronized feature with my phone. The health aspect. I just love so much about my watch.

Have Apple TV and an iPad and a Mac. Will never own PC or any other type of phone. Just don’t see the reason because Apple works so well for me. Looking at an iPhone 11 max. It’s time. And a new watch. I have the series two and have beat the shit out of it. Still works great but might as well upgrade.

    I love Apple.
    Peace,Love and Pearl Jam.

Mine does the same thing.  I started paying more attention to the diagnostics, screen time, etc and noticed when I look at instagram, that seems to hog up resources a lot and drain the battery more than any other app.  Weird how 20 minutes of instagram can run down the battery as much as an hour of Youtube or GPS.

My SE works great, won't trade up unless I have to. may need to get a new batter but in at some point  Also hate the size phones are getting. I don't need to carry and Ipad around all day, which is basically the direction they are heading.

I am so with you on this!
Your SE should be good for roughly another 2-3 years. They're dropping support for the 5s and 6 this month, so I figure the 6s and SE (and maybe 7) will be next year.  Phones should operate well enough for another year or two beyond the support date.  That's when you start to get into apps not working, other functions going wonky, etc.

I don't think it will stop working completely.  It just won't get any more of the iOS updates.  My iPad that I got like 7 years ago stopped getting the iOS updates a year ago but it still functions OK.  Although there may be certain apps that won't work as well without the iOS updates.

Talking, texting, camera, all the basics, you'll be fine.  Like Indiff said, they'll stop supporting iOS which will eventually lead into not being able to upgrade apps, or some features of apps not being available or working correctly, etc. It then just gets to a point where you get annoyed enough with all that to upgrade.
It's also annoying how Apple just forces this when the equipment is still capable of handling most functions of the OS.  For instance, the 5s and 6 losing support this year, when they have most of the same internals as the 6s & SE, which likely won't lose support for another year or two.  There is no reason they couldn't continue supporting the 5s & 6 until the 6s & SE go down with them.  All 4 of them still operate on iOS 12.4.1.

I'm never first in line for new tech, which as someone in software development goes against the norm. I like to wait a bit so that all the initial bugs are worked out. As a developer of web apps, I just wish all the browsers would conform to the same W3 standards. It's a pain in the ass to have special cases for each browser.
