10 is ALWAYS numero uno on my list - especially since the BB remix....
Its how (most of us) got into the band and it reminds us of where we came from
name one bad track on the album...please...i dare you ;)

i will never get sick of this album and it will always be relevant

I must agree with ya on this one!

without reading this thread, i admit i am 100% jaded. The album got me in to the band and doesn't have a bad song on it. Yet i still rate it in the lower half and haven't listened it since probably 1998

I think it's just that ten was an album for my youth. My middle school/high school days. I don't really need to get back into that space anymore.

Ten is great, but I realized as I got more into Pearl Jam the greatness of what was left out of Ten:
    State of love and trust
    Breath
    Alone
    Wash
    Footsteps
    Just a Girl
    YELLOW LEDBETTER

There are probably a few I am forgetting but man they wrote some great material for that album. Not to mention that Eddie was sitting on Betterman the whole time. While Ten is great, I feel the songs Oceans or Deep could've been replaced with two or more listed above. While some of the songs listed probably don't fit the "feel" of Ten, I think Wash fits perfectly and I don't understand how it was left out.

Ten is awesome and my favourite. I don't mind listening to it over and over again. Never get tired of it (or any one song on it!)

I played the Redux version in my car for a few days but otherwise I havent listened to that album since about 2002.

I just played it to death when it first came out.

If someone asked me would I rather hear Last Exit or Deep live I'd pick Last Exit...

it's a brilliant album but I just over-saturated myself with it.

plus the artwork is genuinely fucking awful

TEN could possibly be the greatest album released by any band.....
But I can also say the same thing about VS........

    yeeep. followed closely by vitalogy.
Yeh I've seen Pearl Jam, too. But I can't remember the dates.

cos if it's anything like the same named PJ fanzine they produce it would be 6 months late and be very blurry.

Who is jaded? Its just that its the first album and the most played, so there isn't much on it most people haven't already seen live a bunch of times. I still enjoy hearing every song on it but if I had a chance to make a request it would be for something I haven't heard.

that's my whole point!!! we ALL have heard it a trillion times...and i have seen every song live...except Oceans (WTF Ed?!...Boston IS a sea town dude!)

That's why we are Jaded...we have taken Ten's greatness for granted because we were over exposed to it.....but after staying away from it for so many years...the redux really brought about a new appreciation for it...at least it did for me....so yeah...If Ed asked me what song i wanted to hear it wouldn't be a Ten song...but that doesn't take away from it's greatness IMO....it just means he needs to play more fucking Binaural & Riot Act shit at shows!!

    Bump.

I listed to Ten five (5) times today! Well, sorta. I've listened to the songs from Ten five times each today using five different live mixes from different eras (early-90s, 2009, 2011, 2012, and 2013/14).

Sure, some of the tunes are a bit played out but there's STILL no denying the greatness of these songs!

This is silly. Of course it is an amazing album. Without it none of us would be here. I dispute the premise that 7 or 8 out of 10 PJ fans don’t appreciate Ten. Nonsense. If that’s true then I’m definitely in the minority. Favorite song has always been Alive and the album will forever be in my Top 3.

It is great.  I think I way overplayed it in 90s so I might have burned myself out on it a little.  So while I still love it, I rank Yield as a my favorite.

I love Yield - adore most of the songs on it. For whatever reason, however, I still can't rank it ahead of the first three albums. It comes close to Vitalogy for me. I think they were smarter here when they only included two "weird" tracks (as opposed to four on Vitalogy) but to me there a a couple of clunkers and if I ranked the other 10 songs of each album and then matched them against each other, Vitalogy would come out ahead. For example, my #1 Immortality beats my #1 Given To Fly... my #10 Satan's Bed beats my #10 Wishlist.

With the above said, I bumped this thread stating how much I still love Ten but there are days where I'd put Yield ahead of it. What else is there to say but restate that their first five (or maybe even six) albums are truly incredible?

First CD I ever bought (had tapes before that) and still my favourite album ever. It would crack me up knowing the number of times I've listened to Alive.

The redux was like discovering Ten all over again, especially from a guitar parts point of view. I don't like the mix as much but things pop out that I do love. The piano in Black higher in the mix being one. Was surprised they didn't put all the b-sides in the deluxe sets as even though they're on Lost Dogs they're still arguably just as strong as some of the album tracks.

Anyone else have an eargasm hearing Krusen play the intro fills to Alive at the HOF just as they were on the album?

Admittedly, I haven't listened to the original studio version of Ten in at least a decade.

...and yes indeed, the reissue would have been way better/complete if they'd included the b-sides. If I'm not mistaken, many of the versions on Lost Dogs were different than the ones that were included on the original singles.

It is an amazing album... It still isn't in my top 5, and not because I'm jaded. I just think that the music the band made from No Code through S/T speaks to me more in general (while at least two of my top 5 PJ songs do come from the first 2 albums - go figure). That doesn't mean I don't LOVE Ten (and Vs and Vitalogy) as well. Ranking albums I love makes little sense to me in any case. I'm only really comfortable ranking albums 9 and 10, lol.
