MedozKMedozK Tennessee Posts: 9,209
We have crowned our 6th Champion and now will move onto another critically acclaimed album.
'Back In Black' Champion - Hells Bells
'Led Zeppelin IV' Champion - When the Levee Breaks
'Second Helping' Champion - The Needle and the Spoon
'Sports' Champion - The Heart Of Rock & Roll
'Slippery When Wet' Champion - Wanted Dead or Alive
'Dark Side of the Moon' Champion - Time

We will play this time to determine the GREATEST song on the album 'The Stranger' by Billy Joel
For anyone new to the game:
You are going to pick the song that you think is the "Weakest Link" after 3 days I remove the three (3) songs with the most votes.
We will then move on to Round 2. - Remember you are voting to eliminate songs from contention.

Lets have fun with this. Remember debating and discussing why your right and others are wrong is always fun.

The Stranger is the fifth studio album by  Billy Joel, released in September 1977. Spent six weeks at  No. 2, The Stranger is considered Joel's critical and commercial breakthrough. Four singles were released in the US, all of which became top-40 hits.

I'm gonna skip this one. Not familiar with the album and only know like 2 songs off it.

Here's one I'm not too familiar with.  Will give it a listen and get back in a bit.

Digging the title track, has a Steely Dan vibe to it.  Speaking of which, that'd be a cool band to see in one of these.

Pretty good album on the whole.  The only real stinker for me is the last song.  It's just very... gospel... I guess?  Like I picture a church choir draped in robes, open hymnals in hand, swaying back & forth, and singing the chorus type of song.  Blah.

    Sweet. I love this album.
    @Dr. Delight should play this round - I think he's a fan.

I love everybody has a dream (I am a big fan of gospel-sounding background vocals in general).

I voted only the good die young just because every other song on the album is better/more beautiful for me, not because I dislike that song at all. Every song on this album is great IMO... this is way way harder for me than Dark side was. By far.

I'm kinda surprised at Italitan Restaurant getting votes this early.  I could see going out next round but the first?  Yeah sure, I never knew the name of the song until today, but I've always loved that tune!  Thought it was a fan favorite.  But yeah, like you said every tune is great (except for Everybody for me) so I suppose I shouldn't really be surprised if a big hit goes in round 1.

If I never hear "Only the Good Die Young" again I might live longer.

OK, so maybe Billy Joel was right.

My kids request that I play Movin' Out quite frequently. They love the parts where he says heat attack and cadillac. Then they always ask me who the singer is. My favorite interpretation they have is when they think they hear the same artist on another song and ask me if it's John Lemon (Lennon)
    It's a hopeless situation...

Parents and In-laws would have a tough time picking these.  I know lots of Billy Joel but only play it when the oldsters are round.

I can't believe people are voting for Vienna and Scenes in the first round - it's like people just want to mess with the process.
