Just listened to this album straight through for the first time in years and it has definitely aged well. So many gems! Love LBC, Half Full, Thumbing My Way and Can’t Keep

Great album, but what Pearl Jam album isn’t great?  Riot Act, though, has some of the strongest lyrics of the band’s entire catalog.

I waited like an hour for it to illegally download from KaZaa so I could hear it before it was available. Don't worry, I later bought a legit copy and deleted the digital bootleg. :) Unfortunately the RIAA lawyers were not kind to me a few years later...

This album was the first time I downloaded some leaked tracks as well. I think I had maybe five tracks before the album was released. But I felt it actually took away from the experience of first listening to the album when I bought it, so with Avocado, I restrained myself from downloading any leaks. I just listened to the official digital download of World Wide Suicide about a thousand times until the album was released lol

I've ran into some problems with illegal downloading too and don't do it anymore. My internet provider told me if I do it one more time, they'll ban me. It's a good internet provider so I figure I'll play by the rules. From 2003-2016, I downloaded a lifetime's worth of torrents anyway.

I remember reading on here that Dave Grohl said in an interview at the time that it was the best PJ album to date.

    Anyone know of this interview?

I think, for me personally, this album has aged extremely well. As have all of the others. I used to think there were crummy albums. I now know that there are only (a few) crummy songs.

I just went to Stage AE for the first time this past weekend.  I can't say so based off one visit, but it has excellent potential to be my new favorite venue.  Easy in & out of the city, plenty of parking w/o the long wait getting out after the show, great floor space, clean, plenty of places to eat/drink/sightsee nearby.

Agreed.  I was living in PIttsburgh when they were building it, and I thought it was a strange place to build at first, but it worked out nicely.  I've only been to one show and it was during the winter, but I've heard it's really cool when they make it an outdoor venue.

Gotta say it's the most uneven effort for me. When it's on fire, it's lava and when it misses the mark it's ice. But I love it because of the songs that never get played live (well all of them) but so many of these songs have aged well and evolved so well into the live show (when they get played). Love Boat and Help Help are so good live now. One day I'll hear Can't Keep, You Are, & Thumbing My Way (but mostly Can't Keep).

I'm definitely gonna have to hit up an outdoor show in nicer weather.  It is pretty cool though that even in cold weather you can walk out to the side porch for a breather (or cigarette or joint) and go back in.

Inspired by this thread, I've had this playing in the car all week.  It really is an amazing album from the first note to the last.  Matt Cameron's contributions really shine on this one.  There are some gems on there that I wouldn't say I forgot about, but certainly put on the back burner in my mind.  I think I still hold Cropduster as my favorite tune; the lyrics have always brought out this introspective view of the universal existence for me.  Love the guitar effects on You Are.  1/2 Full, Can't Keep, LBC all stellar tracks!
We also got some really good outtakes from RA.  Down, Undone, Other Side, 4/20/02 are all great tunes and Severed Hand & Last Soldier were also born out of this period.
