... in my town of Gothenburg, or sell that ticket and go to Berlin and Eddie Vedder on that day instead?

I have no doubt that Ed puts on a better show, but I’m guessing this will be the last chance you’re going to get to see a legend in your home town.

Couldn‘t you go to one of the other EV shows and so do both?

That's where my head is at, and I will never travel for Bob (maybe to somewhere else in Sweden like Stockholm)... and I mean, he announced his date first. Can't really blame Bob for Eddie being so slow announcing the tour and Dimitis game of clues you can't understand.

Yeah, but here were reasons going to Berlin. But yes, will look at other options.

If you haven't seen Dylan, it's worth it, because it's Dylan. If you have, I'd vote EV any day. I've seen Dylan three times and unfortunately his voice and stage presence is regressive at this point in my opinion. His band is always stellar though!

Vedder!!  How is this even a choice?  However to be fair I very much dislike Dylan’s voice, nails on a chalkboard for me.

Then, if you can realize your reasons are so subjective  - wouldn't you see that it can "even be a choice"?

Whenever did Eddie sing about Alicia Keys? :D

Saw Dylan a few years ago, told myself it was a "bucket list" thing to do. It was, by far -- by very, very, very far -- the worst concert I've ever seen. We left as he was doing great violence to "Tangled Up In Blue;" the song was wholly unrecognizable and I would have had no idea what it was did I not catch a mumbled "tangled up in blue" coming from the stage. The sound sucked (not necessarily his fault); stage lighting virtually non-existent; no interaction with the audience AT ALL. Seriously, save your money and listen to his albums at home.

I've seen him twice. In 2004 (I think, or 2002) and didn't really know what was happening. And the in 201X when he toured with Knopfler - and you coul see people streaming out of the place during Bobs set.

But still... I might appreciate it more now.

Not to beat a dead horse, but whoever is playing at your local bar tonight is a better bet than Dylan; the sound and lighting will be better, too.

Bob.  Age over better current singing voice.  Ed will very likely be around a good bit longer.

For those hating on Dylan, tell me what you'll be doing at his age.  Gonna keep working that hard?  I didn't think so.

Gotta disagree with you, Brian. Mavis Staples opened for him, and she was AWESOME.

If he wants to retire, by all means, he should. He has earned it! But what I saw -- I lack the words to describe how bad it was. Unintelligible lyrics, unrecognizable music, a stage lit by a 20-watt bulb. It was a massive waste of time and money.

Bob Dylan has always performed in this manner, going on 56 years now.

I knew his concerts were like this since I was in 8th grade and I have never seen him live.

Last Bob Dylan show I saw live was hard to watch. The band couldn't catch up to Bob. He was all over the place. And this was a decade ago. Shocked he's still going, though if Ed still tours @ the age of 77 and mumbles like Bob, I'll still see him live.

I've been thinking about this thread and honestly, if you've ever been a fan of Dylan's music and you've never seen him live, you owe it to yourself to go.  He's only one of the two most influential artists of the last sixty years of music.  I think it's a no-brainer, even if he's been past his prime for a while now.

I get all the comments about how his voice is terrible and he doesn't do the songs like they sound on the album, but these are not new arguments.  The song arrangement controversy has been going on since the '80s.   If you want to hear the songs like they are on the album, go listen to the album.  This is an odd hill to die on for some of you, considering Pearl Jam routinely extends songs or performs different versions of them in concert.  How is that different than what Dylan is doing?

I just think if you love music and have the opportunity to see a legend play music live, you better do it when you can.

If you haven't seen Dylan, I'd say see him. Every time he comes in town, I see him. Everything everyone writes above is true. His voice is very raspy. He completely rearranges songs so that they're essentially new. He doesn't address the crowd (even to say thanks for coming). But I think it's still absolutely amazing. I didn't know any of this going in the first time I saw him and I really didn't like the show. If you go in knowing what you'll see (same setlist every night), I think he's amazing. I love his reworked songs. After more than 50 years playing the same songs over and over again, I don't blame him changing them up to keep them interesting to him and his fans. A must see in my humble opinion.
