    +1.

Ament was also asked whether Pearl Jam is planning a 30th anniversary event a la the multi-day festival they put together in celebration of their 20th anniversary in 2011. “I always want to make new music and play new shows and go to new places. That said, I’m sure somebody will three Xs on a t-shirt.”

  • The reason to do it in a place like Alpine Valley is it takes a bit of effort so casual fan will be less likely (though also not excluded). Let’s face it - the place that’s most easily accessible from everywhere including abroad is NYC.   As much as I’d love that, you do PJ20 there, and it’s not nearly the same experience.

It has has to be done somewhat centrally that’s not impossible, but does take a little thought and effort.

It really wasn’t magic nor the love (which they might have, but that’s besides the point) of Alpine Valley that landed PJ20 there.  If they want similar atmosphere, it has to be somewhere similar. If you want to blast it out and make it easier on everyone including the casual fan, it would be NYC.

and I agree it is unlikely anyway.  Don’t try to recreate stuff.  That never works and tends to disappoint.  Build new.
Sorry. The world doesn't work the way you tell it to.

I don't either, but it is fun to speculate.

I totally agree 30 years would be a big deal for them and worth celebrating with the fans.
    I am hopeful!

And you even hate Neil Young (if Toronto 1 was the show he came out at)!

A 30th Anniversary Tour would be nice.  And not one of these little mini, 13-stop deals that only hits one US coast.  A full-scale world tour - North America, South America, Europe, Australia/Asia with at most a month between continents.  That's probably more wishful thinking than a one-stop shop.  But who knows, maybe that's why they've taken it so easy the past decade.  A man can dream.

No point to PJ30.  Made a whopping 20 songs in the 13 years since the avocado album peaked their creativity.  Which is clearly written out in the PJ20 book.  They had a DOUBLE ALBUM!   So the decline has been long and slow.  We've been going to the same concerts since 2009 when Backspacer came out.  Other than a full album being played, how are shows in 2018 different than 2009?  Only 2-3 songs TOTAL from both albums are mainstays in the set. It's crazy that the fan base is all about empty boxes, posters, and one-off songs.  IMO, this next album is either reclaiming a title they once held or it becomes their Voodoo Lounge and it's all just merch service from here on out.

I predict a double album and tour ,whats wrong with empty boxes? Anyway or boxsets of the tours those are like super cool, its like. Going on tour with them when you listen to every show ,peace out ,hopefully see you at the shows

Isnt pj30 supposed to be in 2020? They started in 1990 and celebrated their 10 year anniversary in 2000
    No 2021. They did PJ20 in 2011
PJ20 in 2011 was a year late.  Let's not argue with math.
I am not arguing with math. I am just going by what the band has laid out in the last 2 milestones. 2011 was consider PJ 20 a year late or not. 2016 marked their 25th anniversary according to them. If they were going to do something 2021 would follow that pattern. I hope it is next year myself.
Their first official anniversary celebration was in 2000 - 10 years from the date of the first gig on 10-22-1990. Maybe celebrating PJ20 in 2011 rather than 2010, and their 25 year anniversary in 2016 rather than 2015 was the same logic that they're now applying to the Fan Club singles! Everything since 2011 is now always 1 year late!:lol::lol:
Im guessing it'll be 2021, to mark 25 years since ten
