The funniest instances you'll ever hear of there being too little crowd noise on a live recording is from some mid-90's Metallica shows that they had (and maybe still have) up for free download on their website. There is absolutely ZERO crowd noise. Not a peep. It makes for some funny awkward moments when James lets the crowd sing. The beginning of The Memory Remains is the funniest.
