Why don't bands re-release live recordings or compilations?

Pearl Jam aren't the only band that keep stuff like Live on Two Legs. I was looking up Neil Young's Year of the Horse (my personal favorite live output of his) and Wilco's Kicking Television and like PJ's Two Legs & Ten Legs they were released and never again.... Is there a rights issue? Is it a cash flow issue? Just curious. With so many people that love vinyl and are willing to pony up for the albums (which none of the bands have an issue with re-releasing) why not get rid of the secondary market and give us our "cheap" fixes?

The Benny vinyl issue was founded on these very words.

Year of the Horse will almost certainly get re-pressed, but Neil has been doing a fair amount of digging through other material from his archives, not just the already available stuff.

Honestly it comes down to, do they want to do something semi-interesting, like release things that have not been officially released, Vaults, or rehash stuff.  L2L and Lost Dogs are probably good candidates to get a re-boot, the Newbury Orpheum kind of sprung up out of the blue last year.  I would expect they might be the conduit to this moving forward.

I think demand for these types of albums is generally low outside of the hardest core fans, so represses aren't a high priority. No one wants excess stock of a slow mover just sitting around. I'm sure all we see represses at some point though.

Yeah, nearly every record store I've been in has at least one Let's Play Two still hanging around.

I think it'd be nice if they simply have more digital downloads (pre-2000....caught myself there) on this site.

I'll have to seek that one out. I was at those shows and they were amazing.

KT was only released as vinyl in 2010 on RSD.  Original release was CD only.
