Was the RBG movie any good? I’m always skeptical about political biopics

It’s not political in a true political sense... it’s about her life from Harvard Law onward, and what she did to get by, thru and above breaking barriers for women at Harvard and then for women’s rights way before her getting to the Supreme Court.  It’s also about her marriage and child. Totally endearing, I wasn’t aware of her background, and I should have been.
I have yet to see RBG.NYTimes-Even for a biopic, this one is unusually family-oriented: It traces Justice Ginsburg’s extraordinary relationships as much as her unparalleled career.

Oh yeah, I loved A Simple Favor but Won’t You Be My Neighbor belongs in my #3 spot, so my list would be:

    1. Spider-Man: Into the Spiderverse
    2. Eighth Grade
    3. Won’t You Be My Neighbor
    4. Avengers: Infinity War
    5. Mandy

Damn, it really hurts leaving A Simple Favor off of there.

Well, not to crap on anyone's list, but if these are the best movies of the year, then 2018 was turrible year for movies.  Just turrible.

I believe that without The Weinstein Company, there’s a big difference in this year’s films. I’ll take the loss and keep Harvey out of Hollywood.

I think the best movies are easily coming from the smaller production companies. Look at A24. Moonlight was next level. Lady Bird, and then Hereditary. To name a few. Manchester by the Sea a few years back was just incredible. Big production companies really kinda suck now.

Apparently 2018 was so bad that you couldn't even compile a list, wow!
  • Eighth Grade-  I used to follow Bo on YouTube and thought he was great.  Glad to see this movie get some love.
    Infinity War
    Won't you be my neighbor
    Ready Player One
    Isle of Dogs

I gave Hereditary a watch.  Great acting, interesting story, effects, etc., but...meh.  I just don't get the hoopla about this film.

"So", the making of the Peter Gabriel album, was just fantastic.  The man is brilliant and sorely underrated.  I can see how Maynard was influenced by him.

I have yet to see many of the films from 2018 and hope they're not as mediocre as some of the other crap out there right now.

I keep trying to think of the Top 5 from 2018 and it highlights how few of the new releases I watched this year.  (Many I looked to include were 2017 movies.)

Here is the awful list of (14)  2018 releases I have seen thus far. after reading through this release listing   https://www.firstshowing.net/schedule2018/   :
    1. Black Panther
    2. Deadpool 2
    3. Avengers - Infinity War
    4. Ant Man Wasp
    5. Solo
    6. A Quiet Place
    7. Annihilation
    8. Game Night
    9. A Wrinkle In Time
    10. Pacific Rim Job:  Uprising (1/2, turned off)
    11. Beirut
    12. Borg vs McEnroe
    13. Mary Shelley (1/2, turned off)
    14. The Ballad of Buster Scruggs

Of those, I would put Top 5 (most interesting or entertaining, to me) as:
    • Black Panther
    • Annihilation
    • Beirut
    • Borg vs McEnroe
    • Solo

A couple more worthwhile movies are Boy Erased and Ben is Back. Both star Lucas Hedges in the lead.
Boy Erased is a true story about youth gay conversion therapy. And Ben is Back is about youth drug addiction. Very well acted movies

Just watched Boy Erased over the weekend and the acting in that is first class. Lucas Hedges is a very good young actor and both Crowe and Kidman were excellent in their roles.
