Sirens at 30 million views

Great song. A decent respectable hit! Weird it went out of rotation this tour.

I with this mode of thought.  Don't get people's hatred of this song, but to each their own.

I would like to see Mike play that 12 string acoustic next to Ed playing a Uke just for giggles.

I'm glad people dig it, but I will continue to not care about this song even at 1 billion views.

there's also the vevo version that has 12 million. But it's since been merged with the main Pearl Jam channel. So there's 2 Sirens videos for a combined 42 million views

On a side note. Jeremy is close to 100 million.

Love Mike’s solo in the video version. Song is great, they have a song like this on almost every album dating to Vs. Don’t understand the hatred

I never understood the love for this song but I also never understand the hate for it either.

I get "It's not my thing" but I don't get "I hate it".
“The fear of death follows from the fear of life. A man [or woman] who lives fully is prepared to die at any time.”
Variously credited to Mark Twain or Edward Abbey.

I would say people think it's cheesy and sounds like something Meatloaf would do.

    I dig it though.

I would say people are simpletons and don't like things that make them feel uncomfortable, but hey, that is just me.

one of their best lyrically song of all times...
i dont give a flying fuck what "cool kids" think about it..
the song is by far the best of LB,and the meaning is so powerful that u need to stop for a min and think, how fragile is life,,,in just a second everything can change.,.everything can be lost..need a seconbd.,,and puff..just like that....,,
"...I studied your face, the fear goes away,.."
"...Dimitri...He talks to me...'.."The Ghost of Greece..".
    "..That's One Happy Fuckin Ghost.."
“..That came up on the Pillow Case...This is for the Greek, With Our Apologies.....”
  • Yeah it may be sappy, but sometimes... when it hits me just right... makes me cry like a baby.

And while we're at it... Backspacer and Lightning Bolt are great albums... Fuck the haters.
  • Love this song and holds special meaning for my family. The acoustic version from The last BSB was awesome. I hope to hear it live one day too.

Clearly I like it enough to actually post about it. Bring it back. Thanks for having me, I'll hang up and listen now.

I was excited to hear it live in 2013.  Glad they rotated away from it but it would be a good rarity in future years.
  • If I would get myself a tatoo one day (which I am not intending to do at the moment) it would be the lyrics of this songs:
It's a fragile thing this life we lead If I think too much I can get overwhelmed by the grace by which we live our lives with death over our shoulders

Not a fan of the song but thought it was ok at Fenway 2. My wife likes it and I would rather hear it than Just Breathe for the 10th time.

I loved it when the album came out.   Now it's rarely listened to.   My kids are in the "I hate it" camp.
