What did everyone get in the Collectionz Mystery Tube Poster sale

willbarclaywillbarclay Ottawa, Canada Posts: 3,298

I see the other thread was closed. Since the sale has come and gone, this is not a thread promoting the sale, but one to share the results of it.

I know there was a Chief reported.

Who else got one? Mine should arrive in the next few days.

I like both of those, especially the goalie... but I'm Canadian, so, you know. lol ... And the white version of the crow is better than the red, but still a pretty cool poster IMO.

Agreed.  The goalie is a cool print.

I love the Strange Brew Calgary print
  • Collectionzzz is a money making business, don't be naïve people.
  • Lots of us missed out on the sales here in the last few weeks. Why not let us gamble to try to get that Emek that no one can afford secondary market prices for? $190 is a damn sight cheaper than the $6-800 that print is going for. Worth the chance to me. Sure they’re probably making money on it—but the waiting/expectation part is fun. Good luck everyone

Yeah.  It was smart.  They can sell posters for whatever price someone will pay but I don’t know that I would pay for a mystery poster sale.  Too much room for manipulation.

Agreed.  I questioned on the boards how was this any different than eBay and got some wishy washy answer.

I'd say it's nothing like eBay.
its more like going to the casino and gambling

In both instances the house takes in a lot of money.

    Waoh there.

There isn't any manipulation in any of this so stop it.  These posters went out on complete randomness.

People did know the price, and all posters were listed for about a week leading up to the sale.  I didn’t get a tube, but always love seeing these threads.  Good luck to those that took the gamble!

    That IS true!!
  • As with all of those kind of stuff nobody is forcing anybody to pay anything.
I looked at it.  Had no money and thought oh well.

  • Nobody forced me to pay. Sheesh. I thought it was fun. Got a print I didn’t have, that I like. Overpaid a bit but I’m ok with it. I went through the list before I paid and saw easily 30-40 posters I’d be stoked to get, plenty I had already that I could trade, and a few duds. I see nothing wrong with it. That said, I’m ready for a 10c mystery tube sale or two!

People know the price when they buy tickets scalped at significantly higher prices than face value and they still buy them, too.

I’d be cool with it if it was a break even sale.  But something seems off when people are getting a $35 poster for $175 and the people running it make a profit.  Nothing wrong with running a business but it seems like these boards shouldn’t be promoting it if it’s run that way.
