Rebel Rebel

Now that the dust has settled on the shows, can we discuss the band covering Rebel Rebel? Was it just me or did they crush it? And I know there has been cover backlash as of late but this was a treat and it was awesome. How does Evil Little Goat get more PR than covering an all time great, for the first and only time, and doing a fine fine job of it?

Agree. Love the song, love the cover.
I don’t care how rare E-goat is, it’s a pretty dumb song. It’s never played for a reason. The only cool thing about it is to say you heard it and cross it off a list. Otherwise it would be a disappointment.
id rather say I heard Rebel Rebel instead.

Yeah I much rather would have heard rebel rebel than out of my mind at Fenway. Was actually really hoping for it.

Was a very good version. Looking forward to hearing the bootleg to make sure it was really as good as I thought

Rebel Rebel was the highlight of the U.S dates I attended (Seattle 1 & 2, Chicago 1 & 2, and Boston 2). First of all I love Bowie and particularly that song, but I thought they did a great job at it. Like someone else mentioned I can't wait for the boot to make sure it was as good as I perceived at the time! Awesome cover, hope they mix that in here and there going forward, it wouldn't kill anyone to sub something like this for Baba or Rockin once in a while..

Sounds as though there are plenty of positive comments about the performance. Is there any speculation regarding why they played this Bowie track!?

I was hoping for this instead of 2 nights of taillights fade. But they didnt that with draw the line by Aerosmith in '16 at the Fenway shows too. I've from Boston born and raised and I would've preferred Bowie to The Standells! Hell, I would've taken a bunch of other "boston based" covers over that!

It was definitely an excellent surprise. Wouldn’t mind seeing it mixed in to sets in the future, but hopefully not overdone.

If it was near as awesome as I remember it being it’s darn good  - I don’t know if I’ve ever been this genuinely surprised and thrilled
    with a cover.

Not to rub it in, but I was a kid in a candy store. I think the people around me (come on fellow Ten Clubbers)  thought I was nuts. They brought out the trophy and I went from (oh, a rehash of All the Way, okay - I'll bite) and then they do Bowie? Never had a chance to see him and he's become a top five artist/band and that's as close as I'll ever get.

They played on the video screens before the highlight of a Cubs grand slam home run from a few days before. The hitter - David Bote...
    Bote - Bowie

Joe Maddon wanted Bote's walk on music to be Rebel Rebel. Eddie took it and ran. Bote didn't. But we all benefited.

Another reason why this show will probably always be the most special setlist I've ever attended.  All personal reasons of course, but this setlist is still showing me why it meant to so much to my family weeks later.  For the record, I never knew the lyrics to Rebel Rebel until this past weekend.  Thanks again to the band and much love to all of you.

I got to see Bowie on what ended up being his last tour.  I remember Rebel Rebel being a standout song that I really enjoyed during his set.   Very much looking forward to PJ's take on it.
