I’m probably in the minority on this.....but I’m not a fan of 4 or 5 different artists/posters per show.

i miss one poster design for the show(s).
I agree. 1 poster for N1, 1 poster for N2. Not 5 for both shows combined.
If they had only 1 poster I'd probably pre-order it blind. If there were 5 I probably wouldn't do any of them blind, or maybe just 1 and hope its the one I end up liking.

Agree wholeheartedly with this Idea, but it's also been suggested a million times on here and it's obvious the current System is never going to change. Sad!

For setlist shirts I see no argument. Let us preorder and pick up the next day or have it mailed to us. There is no artist to support.
I agree on this. I know a lot of people leave right after the concert and can't get a setlist shirt . I have to leave for home right after tonight's show and I,  and im' sure others are leaving,  won't be around the next day to buy a shirt. There should be a way for those to still be able to buy a setlist shirt.

if they make too many, they will make less money at the end of the day as they will have stock left over. not a good business plan to have left over stock on the shelf. create the hype and make it big hype.
Nearly 30 years of show posters, and only 19 are sitting available in the shop.  There is room to sell more, and there is data available to show how many more they could reliably sell.  I'm not willing to pretend that the folks in charge of merch don't have this info available.

So people want to get rid of flippers, AND have limited edition merchandise readily available to all who want it?  I don't think we can have it both ways, that's just now how it works.
if thgere wasnt the briliant idea for mystery poster sales they will have thousand of posters sit on the their storage unsold

    Dear Ten Club,

I'm sure you're aware of the number of posters, shirts, hats, etc. being sold for exorbitant prices on eBay, immediately after they first go on sale at concerts. Fans have little opportunity to get these items at the shows and wind up paying these unfair eBay prices
fattening the wallets of flippers who do nothing but hurt this great community. That money could go direct to the Ten Club, or even better, go to support worthy charities.

To solve this problem, please consider offering posters, setlist shirts and other items for sale online directly to Ten Club members who have purchased tickets through the club for those specific shows. You could even offer these items in a bundle and charge an extra dollar or two for charities.

    Thanks for considering!
So 50-60 hours of sales at outside merch stands, 2 nights of inside merch stands during the shows with 10-12 different stands open, artists drops and 10 Club drops equal LITTLE opportunity to purchase merch?? NO ONE says you have to buy anything on eBay. If you don't like the price, wait for it to fall or don't buy it. Also, 10 Club is NOT in charge of merch at the shows, MrTsurt is, so complaining to 10 Club won't do anything.

The fact is, no one is entitled to anything. If you want something bad enough, put in the time and effort to get it.

Please count the hours where the merch being sought after was available. Mumford 45 mins first day after waiting over 2 hrs, same story next day... Mumford probably clocks in at less than 1 hr availability each day ONLY if you queued hours earlier.

So now you are talking about 1 specific item, the OP was not. Again, you have multiple opportunities to purchase outside, inside at the venue for 2 separate shows, artists drops and the 10 Club drop. If you want it bad enough, line up earlier.

There's a lot of truth here.  The ones that want the merch bad enough are doing what it takes to ensure that they get it.

I mostly get bummed that I miss out on setlist T-shirts when I have to drive or fly home the next morning after a show before they go on sale.

Honesty, I don't understand why they couldn't operate as they do now and then offer a follow up 'to order' run. Or do a pre order 'blind' option and then sell as normal afterwards. I just want posters from shows i've been to - effectively i don't care what they look like. I find myself now buying posters I don't especially want (i.e. shows i've not been to) to then try and trade for ones i've missed out on - which is a vicious circle as there's going to be people who want the ones i have but in turn have themselves missed out.

They should scatter a bunch of blunt weapons in an open field.  Clubs, scythes, etc.   Then, at a random time, paradrop boxes of posters and set list shirts

they are well aware of the situation and the fans' desire for a 'better' way.

Personally, I would prefer a pre-order for poster(s), and a sticker(s) for a verified ticket purchaser as well

Fenway N1 was my 11th PJ show. I have been able to purchase a poster the night of the show exactly twice.

I've stood in the lines for hours like many of you only to find that posters sold out in the first hour. Apparently this is pretty common so I decided to not waste precious time standing in a line for a poster anymore.

It does sting a little when you see people walking around with 5 or 10 tubes full of posters. I'm not really interested in paying flipper prices so I just don't.

I would gladly pay the cost of the poster for a show that I bought tickets to at the time I purchased the tickets.

The modern PJ merch situation just makes me sad.

A poster add-on for 10C ticket sales would be a wonderful thing. I can't justify extending travel times to wait in line for a poster--especially this year, where apparently you'd have to be there in the morning to have a shot.

This is correct ^. Also there is a psychology of sale in play as well.  Once there is a line the line only gets longer as people want what others want as well, peeceptionnif demand fear if missing out.  If just posted on the site it will sit and linger as customers procrastinate or question whether they really need it or not.  This is also I assume why there are limited runs in everything.  Better to sell it and meet a determined profit expectation than to sit on unsold inventory that ended up costing you money and in turn could actually make the endeavor unprofitable to begin with.

Ok, so now you are referring to the "hot" poster being out of stock. There is no certain way to determine which poster will sell the best, and therefore, increase production for it. Do you really want to know why the posters have been a little more difficult to get this time around at Fenway? Go look in the 10 Club shop and see that 4 of the 5 posters from 2016 are now on clearance. They were burned last time, and most likely, decreased the amount printed so they don't end up in the same situation.

As far as setlist shirts, I agree that making them available online would be a great move. Not everyone has an opportunity to line up to get those the day after a show.
  • dudemandudeman Posts: 2,962
But a presale option for 10 Club members buying 10 Club tickets wouldn't negate the line at the merchandise booths.

It would allow those members attending the show the option to buy a poster without having to camp outside the booth hours before they open.

FF does not have poster runs... NYC had a cool elephant print and I maybe saw one other person buy it. Really gives you perception on the whole thing - if that same poster said PJ instead of FF everyone would be fighting for it.
