I love the longer Corduroy....

I've been to almost 50 shows, and I could still hear this song at every show.

I love the longer version of it with the call and response with the crowd, as well as the crowd singing, and the extended solo, etc.

I know some might be tired of this one, but damn....it still gets me going.

Respect your enthusiasm, but I feel like the longer version ruins the subtlety and build of the song.  Don't hate it, but miss the old angrier versions.  Angry Ed ftw!
"What can you expect when you're on top? You know? It's like Napoleon. When he was the king, you know, people were just constantly trying to conquer him, you know, in the Roman Empire. So, it's history repeating itself all over again."

I do love the longer version, was really surprised by it in jacksonville! But definitely understand liking the original version too!

I hear what you are saying, but as the band evolved,  so has the song....i think that quiet part where the crowd takes over "everything has chains"...part.....then the drums and guitar...i feel like it actually builds more for me.

And any way to keep that song going for me is better haha.

I enjoy it a lot too. I would prefer he mix it up a bit though in the middle instead of the same repeat my hi and low voices part. One of their best songs live and they need to play it at every show imo.

I agree.  There was already a breakdown in the song and the longer version seems to take out the energy for me.  I don’t hate it but I don’t love it.

I like all the longer versions they've been doing. Corduroy is interesting because the crowds have consistently stuck with the original timing.

LBC might be the best of the extended bunch though.

I'm with you. Don't really need "Angry" Ed per se, but I'd much rather hear the tighter, shorter version with Ed singing, rather than the cheesy call and response with a bunch of horribly out-of-tune people around me "singing" it. I go to a Pearl Jam show to hear PEARL JAM.

Side note - the version on LO2L is THE definitive live version.

I love Corduroy (appreciate the initial post) but can't stand the recent versions. That slow down right before "everything has chains" just doesn't work for me. That's when the song is suppose to reach its peak!

Admittedly, I'm not a fan of the "hey ho's" either - this includes past versions of Not For You and Do The Evolution.

Great version indeed but I like a little Interstellar Overdrive before I hear Corduroy. Werchter 2012 and Seattle 2013 are two relatively recent versions that come to mind. I think both Las Vegas 2000 and 2006 also fit the bill.

Extra guitar solo mid song was cool in Chicago. Don't need yet ANOTHER call and response song in the set

The 1995 and 1996 takes on Corduroy are among the best.
His eminence has yet to show.

I like how the 'everything has chains...' portion is quiet and the drums and guitar build it back up. Makes the emotional hit more powerful for me. Still love the original though.

While we all love angry Ed, I must say I too am a big fan of this new long version. Took me by Surprise when they did it the first night of the 2016 tour in Ft. Lauderdale, and the crowd kept on singing not anticipating Ed's pause.
