    Flying into o hare
    Uber for sure.
Depends what time you fly in...if it's anytime after 3pm on a weekday, you'll be sitting in horrible traffic on the kennedy....blue line is usually faster.
We land at 7:31AM.  Will we get stuck in the morning rush hour if we Uber or are we better off taking the train into downtown?  We're staying at the Tremont hotel.
    What day do you arrive?
Sorry I'm an idiot.  We get in Saturday morning.
You’ll be fine if you decide to Uber.

Saturday morning you should be fine with traffic.  At least in comparison to a weekday.  If it were me I'd uber.

Chicago South Loop Hotel.  It's a few blocks from the Chinatown Red Line station so about 1/2 hour red line ride to Wrigley.  Room came in at < $300 per night and FREE PARKING.

Guys this past weekend seemed pretty scary in Chicago with all the shootings.  Is any of this going on the touristy areas?  Any places I need to avoid?  Thanks.

I Just returned from Foo Fighters shows at Wrigley. I ALWAYS take CTA from either O'Hare or Midway...it's so cheap and easy!! You want to pay to uber and sit in traffic...go right ahead.

Are you kidding me? Pfft!!!! We're talking g about Mcgruff here...that guy wipes his ass with Ben Franks!
I have five kids bro! Any money saved is a beer or pizza earned.
Oh shit! You're right. Mad props to you! I take back 7 or 8 of the "don't you ever work" comments I have made in the craft beer thread, though I reserve the right to make more in the future.
You can make funny of me all you want! lol.  All good bud.  I have to look back on our pm conversations for your beer and pizza recommendations.

Where you’re staying, you’re fine, barring a rare, unforeseen event. From your hotel to Wrigley, you should have no issues, but like with any big city, be smart and aware of your surroundings. Especially on the trains and at night. That said, the majority of the problems you’re hearing about are in other parts of the city. Enjoy your trip brother...you’ll be all good.

To put it in perspective, I was downtown all weekend for a 2 day bachelor party. We had a decent size group and most of the guys couldn’t spell their own names for most of the weekend lol. We all made it out alive. :)

Considering you are staying in downtown you will be fine. Commuting on the red line to and from Wrigley is very safe, and Weigleyville is also a very safe neighborhood. Most of what you see and hear in the news takes place in the south side. You will also be fine if you wanted to take a visit to Guarenteed Rate field when the Sox are playing. Enjoy the shows. See you at Wrigley.

We walked from Wrigley Field up Addison to Damen to School (Roscoe Village) where our car was parked.  I think it was about a mile and a half.  No one bothered us.

I'm looking at a room on the mile. Short walk to train. Just stressed if we miss our ride back after the show. And 315 total like wtf. I guess it is what it is.
I’m at the Wyndham on Wacker.  Short 5 min walk to the subway.  Take red train to Addison St.  So easy a caveman could do it.  If you stay there, let me know and you could ride the subway with me if you want. My wife and I rode it in 2016 and had no problem. The subway train was crowded on the way back from the concert, but what’s a little BO from close people gonna hurt...
Thank you!! I think I was stressed with not having a room not having a plan. I did book in the mile so should be a short walk bout 20 ish min ride. I feel better and plan to follow every PJ shirt haha. Thanks again!

I"m staying at the Westin on Michigan Ave, the red line runs quite late after the shows and there will be extra trains like 2016...don't worry ...Red line is reliable

I didn't think about extra trains! Duh! Makes total sense and this makes me feel much better! Thank you!

@foxyredla you have another companion with us as well to the red line to and from Wrigley. This is how we have always commuted to and from Wrigley. Like @pp193448 said its really easy to commute on the train to and from. We are also staying on Miracle Mile. Short walk to the train. We are staying at the Rafaello which is where the OP is staying as well.
Thank you Ray! I'm feeling way better now that I have a room and route! I can relax i cannot wait! Party on!

Just don't be intimidated by the crowd at the train after the show.  They will have extra trains running I'm sure so the crowd will move pretty quickly.

And be sure to have your transit card loaded ahead of thime.  You don't want to wait in lines to add funds to your card and then have to wait in another line for the train.
Thank you for this! Had no idea I need a card! I'll get this taken care of as soon as I get settled at the hotel! Good looking out! Thanksssssssss!

I live in Lincoln Park, neighborhood just south of Wrigley. Two garages on my block were broken into and someone was robbed at gunpoint a block east of my house this weekend. You’re in the city and crime has gotten a bit out of hand. Stay with the group and on the main streets and you’ll be ok. Use your head.

Yes you'll get the card when you get on the train for the first time...you get them from a vending machine.  $10 for a day pass....or if you are literally just riding up to Wrigley and back you could just load two fares (2.50 each I think).  They charge you $2-3 for the card itself....just keep it for next time.

edit: looks like it is $5 for the card...worth it if you will visit Chicago frequently.  They do offer tickets that don't require that extra fee....kind of nice

It was mainly south and west.  Dont go west past California Ave or south of 35th if you're worried.

Yes in fact. This happened to people for Wrigley last time and a couple years back in KY. People were showing up with proof they were booked at the hotel I was and they escorted them to another hotel saying they over booked and were cancelled. Not cool.
