Take Krakow in Poland for example - A city they had never played before in a country they visit rarely. I imagine that many bands rolling into Krakow in that situation would have given the starved Polish fans a set of mostly hits and would have played it quite safe. Not Pearl Jam though - 'It doesn't matter if we haven't been here for years and won't be back til fuck knows when, we're not playing Black tonight. You're getting Other Side and All or None.'
So true. Not everyone can travel to multiple continents or every tour to see the band as kids, jobs, finances and other things interfere. When you haven’t seen the band in 5 years (going on 6) like the US West Coast, we’d love for those Ten songs to be played. It may be my one of my last chances to hear Black, Release, or Jeremy again. I can buy the bootlegs for the rarities.

Yeah but if they don't play the rarities you won't be able to have any more boots of them so....

I would rather hear the entire 10 album than Baba, YL, Comfortbly Numb, RITFW. So many songs they don’t play enough I would switch with the ones they play too often
It's a fact that songs like Even Flow and Alive get the biggest reactions at any show.. Trying to send everyone home happy is a balancing act when it comes to setlists.. And I think Ed does a great job

You can't take some of ten and say I want these songs but not these. You get the whole album in rotation. It's all or none and I think we would rather have all those songs than none of them.
It's still my favorite PJ album. I wish the band would let Mike solo more, stone write the riffs and no mushy Ed writing about love and nature.
We all roll with the bumps with PJ and like what we like. :-)

While I personally would prefer deeper tracks. I think it's easy for us to lose sight of how many casual fans go to these shows. For example, we have a group of 6 of us going to Wrigley 2 together. I'm hardcore, and my wife gets dragged along with me hehe. The other 4 all like Pearl Jam and have liked them for over 20 years. But none of them have ever seen them live. So they're going to want to here Jeremy, Evenflow, Black, etc.
I get they have to play the standard classic hits for the casual fans, but my wish is this... If they're playing the same city 2 nights in a row or 2 nights out of 3 days, do we need to hear the same core group of hits both nights? If you're a casual fan and only went to 1 of the 2, didn't get to hear "Alive", then I feel sorry for ya but I'm sure you've heard it a bajillion times since the 90's and you'll still be...alive...tomorrow if you don't hear it live.
Edit: and I say this as someone that has only seen them 3 times. I know some of you see them a minimum of 3 times on 1 tour and I'm sure get bored with hearing them every show too. I get the feeling the band gets bored with "Evenflow", it's so sped up and seems like they can't wait to finish it and move on to the next song.

thank you for saving me the time to write this. you get it!!!!!
as someone who has seen them over 30 times I totally agree. these ballpark shows(back to back) are not about the casual fans.
IMO they are celebrations of PJ through out the years. new, old, longtime, short-time fans... play a set that represents their entire career.

Frustating is that the encore is becoming predictable, very ten heavy
Encore 2 has been a problem for a while now.
The only problem I see is that after 2.5-3 hours shows and more than 100 unique songs played during euro tour we keep on complaining.
I’ll let that comment slide because of your username lol.
I remember the first time I saw the deftones chino did a freaking backflip during seven words. Landed square on his back hard as hell and continued to sing like nothing happened.
