All the merch gone bad!

What the hell is going on with the merch situation.  Ok It's  always been something most get excited about but it's become a joke . 
A money maker .
People attending the show queue for hours to find no posters. Or whatever.
Because someone is allowed to buy as many as they like to sell on eBay. . 
The attendees  at the gig can t get a momento  of the show. Unless they have 100s to spend on eBay after . It's all gone bad.  Not what a gig should be about.

    It just seems horrible . I've been going to pj shows since 93. I'm sure most have but it's like vultures and more important  than the gig

    Yes would be cool. And a limit of course . In London there was a limit on posters  and amsterdam . But not elsewhere

    I’m with you - in all other tours I’ve attended except in the States, posters and event shirts and stickers all readily available.   
    This time nope.  Not even with lining up.  I’ve never done that before!
    tonights the first of of any show I couldn’t get the event shirt ...

    is is it outside merch maybe?

    I've walked out at the end of shows in Europe and seen merch still on sale even last tour.  Not anymore. And ed shows were insane

    What about, when you collect your 10C tickets they ask if you want a poster. If yes then they give you a ticket to go to a specified queue at the merch to pay and pick up your poster. I know that there will be problems with this but they have to do something for the fans that are actually going to the show.

    I thought that in line for my tickets at London and next to me were 100s queuing  for merch. I said to my friend. Why can t it be one queue get your ticket and go into merch place then all done in one go.

    It's my belief the local merch sellers sometimes care or don't care. There are supposed to be limits, but if an employee can sell someone 20 posters and 15 stickers, they get out of there earlier.

    It all depends on the people running the stands.

    At Fenway 2, some stuff was still on sale after the show. Of course, the "catch" poster was long gone by the people who lined up across the street (or even at the booth) before the official start time... Some people were there at 7 or 8 am, even though such wasn't allowed.

    The situation does seem to be getting worse. In the past, I recall hearing Europe wasn't nearly as bad as the USA for merch situations. It sounds like it is on this tour.

    For posters... bands that print unlimited posters tend to not sell very many. People want something that is hard to get, desirable, rare, collectible, etc. It's a catch 22, and ultimately the band makes a lotmore money the way the system is now, and that's apparently going to drive their decisions.

    I enjoyed those pictures.  Blocks and blocks of grown men lining up in Chicago for stickers.  

    In 2016 someone here posted a great fake coversation about a bystander questioning someone in line.  It was about the Molly Ringwald poster.  Wish i could read that again. Summed up the merch madness better than anything ive ever read
