Stubborn Tree/Down To Earth

Shaking like a leaf

Wish the branch would just let go

Stubborn tree affords no relief

Hanging by my own thread while I await the snow

Digging their heels

Roots penetrate too deep

Think I need to file an appeal

Pray the earth my soul to keep

If I fell in the forest

Would anyone hear?

If my skin is too porous

Will my rings disappear?

I’m here and presumed alive

I’m here and consumed, no drive

I’m here and assumed inside

I’m here, will my wounds subside?

Why do my brothers block out the sun?

Why do my brothers block out the sun?

Why do my brothers block out the sun?

Why do my brothers block out the sun?

Send me back down to earth

Just one light breeze should to the trick

I’ll get in line, don’t have to be first

I’m anxious with a slice of politic

Darwinspeed, all.

Cheers,

HFD
