Let us give Jeremy some long lost respect.

As an old timer who doesn't get too psyched for Jeremy at shows any longer ( Ed phones it in at times IMO, seem to have zero enjoyment in singing it).  After reading the recent Jeremy stories and watching the video for the first time in who knows how long.....

Damn that song is good, and that video is simply a masterpiece of the genre.

Let's give an amazing song some love in honor of Trevor Wilson.

Made me fall in love with PJ in 92.  Still a top 5 PJ song for me

The opening bass has popped every crowd that has ever heard it.

    Powerful shit. Great all-time classic.
  • I still for some reason consider myself lucky when I hear it live. Like it's "semi rare". Love the version from Verona 2006.

It's sad really, that it became so overexposed in Eddie's mind. Every time I have seen it played live or heard it on a boot it gets a great crowd reaction. So I guess maybe we should be happy it didn't become overplayed like Evenflow.

I've seen five shows since 2011.

    No Jeremy. Not once.

(I believe it was on the Buffalo 2013 setlist but omitted).

Love it.  Nothing better than seeing Jeff under the spotlight to start the song =)

  • I spent junior high arguing that it was the greatest song of all time... probably the most important stance I've ever taken.

The song will always be special to me. Heard it first in Milwaukee in 2014... chills.

Sad to hear of Trevor's passing. He sounds like an incredibly interesting man.

Great song.  When I first got Ten the three songs I listened to the most were Even Flow, Jeremy and Black.   Can only have love for one of the first songs that really got me into Pearl Jam.

Yeah great point, how I glazed over the real Jeremy-  I am guilty of the worst omission ever

Jeremy is by far and away my favorite song to see performed live.  To be there when this is played, along with the crowd interaction, It's an experience all in it's own.

I've seen Even Flow and Alive live so often that they've lost some of their magic.   Jeremy was the song that got me into PJ, and they don't play it live nearly as often.   I think it's helped keep the magic alive in that song.    It's weird the radio seems the same way.   All I hear is Even Flow and Alive but they rarely play Jeremy.    I get pretty stoked every time I hear Jeremy live and given how horribly my memory can be, it's one of the few songs in existence I can sing front to back knowing all the words :)

I will always remember hearing the song in concert in 98 and when the big crescendo of the crowd singing at the end hit it was so loud it made me dizzy for a second and I thought right then that I would never hear something that powerful again and I have not.
    RIP Jeremy and Trevor.

No worries. It was not my intention to give you a guilt trip. I was just trying to point out that the song's genesis came from the tragic death of a real person. And it's not to say that Trevor's death is any less tragic.

Such an important song and so glad that Pearl Jam decided to talk about things related to suicide and mental illness throughout their career.

I find it interesting how the video similarly changed the lives of PJ and Trevor Wilson and can be construed in a good way.
The instant spotlight drove both out of the spotlight to eventually find more meaningful endeavors.
That can be one positive to come out of the death of Jeremy Delle.

I remember when MTV used to do those top 100 video countdowns and Jeremy was always #1...

    Until Cobain died.
  • I never go to it... but it might be my all time PJ fave.

Heard it live for the first time in Vancouver '13. Prior to that... every interlude between every song at every concert I've seen had me wondering if the next song would be it.

    * That Vancouver show was awesome!

Which video came first?  Jeremy or the Alive/Evenflow?  I always give Jeremy the credit to their popularity for starting it all.

  • Great song. Many memories listening to it many times on my Sony Walkman on tape.  Was pretty impressed to hear it in Quebec at the Videotron.
Does someone have a good video of it?  The normal ones on You tube don't seem to be the greatest.
