Dude, it was A: Steven Gleason's story whom they've been apart of forever and a day now. Like I get what you mean but considering Steve was there and and PJ's music is in the trailer, they weren't going to not play it. I feel you though

I respect the PJ dudes and the hard work they do to support folks, but that big ass video advertisement that suddenly came on the screens at Wrigley before show start was a total buzz kill...Please don't do that again!

Buzz kill like you were really happy, but then felt ??? during the advertisement?

I loved the ad both nights, made me very thankful to be in Chicago at those shows, and not suffering from such a terrible disease.

It's amazing how in modern times people still feel 'inconvenienced' by PWDs. No wait, it's sad. This thread won't last long I predict.

Bringing awareness to a cause near and dear to them. Hopefully none of your family or friends gets AL'S or any other disease/cancer. However, if they do, I hope you will try to help raise awareness in what ails them.

It made me appreciate how fortunate I was to be healthy and ready to witness Wrigley 1 and 2. Serious gut check time.

I had the privilege of seeing the film Friday night in Chicago, followed by a Q and A with Steve and Michel. I can't say enough how thankful I was for that experience, how inspired I am by Steve and Michel, and made me re-focus my life in terms of being a father and a husband. Fantastic film, but more importantly, a couple of badass people. If you don't like the trailer to the movie being shown at Wrigley, I'm going to be kind and maybe just say this: Watch the film, you might re-think your comment. I will refrain from what else comes to mind to say.

Seeing the advertisement made seeing Steve that more poignant Saturday night during the show. The truth is the world is continuing to go on around our insular lives. We need to be open to seeing and feeling the truth of what surrounds us. I thought the advertisement was great. Most people associate ALS with ice buckets and have no real understanding of what it's all about. I'm glad it was able to bring it to light for those in attendance this weekend, many of which probably had no idea who Steve Gleason is.

    Amen.

Lost someone to ALS many years ago. What a horribly fucked up way to "live".

There are times when I think the term awareness is tossed about too easily, but it really is important for some to get a grip - even as an outsider - on how this affects a person's life, mobility, dignity...not to mention the ripple-effects on family and loved ones.

I hope the OP has given (or will give) more thought and less judgment to this based on some of the responses.

Played at both Fenway shows too. I was glad to see it. It pulled at my heart strings, made my wife cry, and hopefully will raise awareness to a terrible condition that effects too many people.

Mind was a little blown after seeing the trailer, as an old friend of mine did a similar project once he was diagnosed a decade ago. Hit the festival circuit last year. If you loved Gleason, but want something a little stranger, check Transfatty Lives out on Netflix.
  • I didn't see it on Monday but wish I had. Must've been shown before I got there.

I saw the trailer at the Fenway show and was blown away by it. Very powerful.

But even more meaningful to me now because one of my closest friends was diagnosed last week with ALS. I'm devesated for him and overwhelmed with how to try and help him. If anyone can speak from experience please feel free to PM. I would appreciate the words of wisdom.

I think the video showed enough for someone to be able to get the jist of what ALS can do. Some people just lack a certain amount of basic human decency.

Agreed. Maybe he couldn't comprehend the video and needs to read about it. Maybe they have Cliff Notes for his intellect.

But to come on here and bash their friend Steve Gleason that takes a serious set of cajones.
