I think it was Cher or The Partridge Family, early 70s.

Either way, not the coolest first album.

Pretty sure my young self paid for it with my allowance.

Top Gun soundtrack on cassette in 1986.
  • Oh yeah ... I shoplifted the 45 Strawberry Fields Forever. I was 8 years old. Went down the road to Fairway put on some sunglasses and walked out without paying. Thought this was pretty easy .Proceeded to WT Grants and stole one of those paddles with a ball attached by an elastic. Started playing right outside the door. The manager caught me and called my father. Last time I ever did that

Did anyone else check out records from the library? When we were kids my mom would take us once a week to get a few books and 1 record. My sister always checked out Thriller and I always got Sgt. Peppers. I loved that album cover, and understood none of the music.

The first first album I ever bought was Let It Be on tape. Shortly after that I remember getting Who's Next on tape from my cousin and it was on from there..

The first CD I recall actually purchasing for myself was Weird Al's "Off the Deep End". Weird Al is actually the musician that first got me into grunge.

I'd probably bought stuff before that, but I don't remember.

    Pearl Jam "Ten".

I was 12 and I mowed this guy's lawn on Saturdays. I bought "Ten" the first time I got paid.
