Coming in Friday and staying down in the Loop area, as the wife and I have never been to Chicago. I'm a beer fiend, just checking to see of Howells and Hood is as good as some of the reviews I have read. I wouldn't mind trying to hit up Half Acre at some point as well.
Half Acre is great. Try checking out Revolution Brewing too....great brewery with so many good beers.
Off color and Hopewell are great breweries as well.
No love for Giordanos? Also, what's the difference between Au Cheval and Small Cheval? I'm assuming Small is the quick service. I gotta try these burgers.

You hit it on the head. Au Cheval is a diner with a much larger menu and small Cheval is the burgers, fries, cocktails, beers and shakes. Huge patio as well at small.
Chicagoans don't eat deep dish pizza. It's more of a tourist thing. We eat it when friends come in from out of town.

I had Giordano's last time I visited. Got the thin crust (which is really more like regular crust) and a greek salad....was great. Had a few Goose Island Green Line Ales to wash it down.

We are going to visit Dry Hop on N Broadway. Not too far of a walk from our hotel.

I heard the bacon is the best. Only available at Au Cheval? Any difference in quality between the 2 locations? Thanks for the info.

Is Sheffield's the best place to go near Wrigley to find those breweries and maybe Three Floyds or Pipeworks?

They bacon is the same bacon only difference is at au Cheval it's a thicker cut and at the end the glaze it with maple it becomes candied in a way.
Anyone ever been to the silver palm? I remember seeing Anthony Bourdain eat a sandwich there called three little pigs which had a fried pork chop, ham, bacon, eggs and cheese. He called it the greatest sandwich in the US.

Those are other good breweries. I'm not sure which bars carry what. I know some of them have tap rooms and stores to check out.

Silver Palm is ok, but I don't think that sandwich is actually on the menu. Check out Twisted Spoke nearby instead. Gloriously curated tap beer selection and good bar food.
While you're in the neighborhood, swing by Bari Foods and pick up the the best Italian sandwich you'll ever have.
