Still not sure I'm going to go. I wonder how fast these one day passes sell?

I'm still on the fence, too...and leaning toward no. My gf is in school and could likely only get away with the Monday off...that's a lot of driving (or $$ for flight) from Edmonton, for a long weekend - an abbreviated set for 170+tax. Also, none of the other bands I'm interested in are playing Sunday. Bah. Nearly 3 years since my last pj show, I'm jonesin. Why no more western shows, fuckers?

$142 USD for a ticket and shuttle from Whistler. Done and done.

Right?! It's been 3 years. That seems like a long time for them not to play a single show somewhere in the west besides one festival.

Really? No love for Noel??? To each their own, but I've seen him live many times, and he plays a lot of Oasis songs, is very engaging, and in my opinion, that's worth the ticket price alone. There's also some pretty decent hip hop. I expect PJ will get at least 25-30 songs in, it looks like Sunday has been scaled down a bit in terms of mid-tier acts (hopefully to give more time to PJ)

I have no interest in spending a day at a festival. Too hot, too crowded. Who is playing is barely relevant under those conditions as far as I'm concerned. If I bought a ticket I'd be buying a $130 Pearl Jam ticket where I'll be standing in a hot, sweaty, drunk and stoned crowd (+ a $40 shuttle from Whistler). Lol, I dunno... not great. I'd probably show up on the festival grounds an hour before PJ hit the stage... this isn't quite like Sophie's Choice or anything, but still, it's not an easy decision.

Yeah, I hear ya. Pemberton in July will likely be so bloody hot. It's a high price tag if you're just interested in PJ. I'm on the fence.

I don't intend to stay the whole day. I haven't been to the Squamish/Whister/Pemberton area since I was a kid. We booked a hotel in Squamish for the Sat/Sun night. Take the ferry over early on the Saturday, book in our hotel, and drive up to whistler to check it out. Then on the Sunday, have liesurly morning, head up to whistler and try to get a shuttle not long before PJ hit's the stage.

If it's going to be nuclear hot there's no need to watch all the other bands. When I went to the Virgin Music festival in 2009 (Calgary) The amount of people that showed up between 6pm and 7pm was staggering. Most of the people didn't go for the whole day.... I'm not gonna fry myself before PJ hits the stage. If I can arrive at some point during the band that plays before them, that'd be perfect :) An hour or two before PJ hit's the stage isn't bad. All day, you've got to be nuts :)

I just got back from whistler on Friday. Love that place. I prob wouldn't stay all day either. Was never much of an oasis fan. Glorious Sons put on a pretty good show, but most of the acts I'd enjoy are playing Saturday (still not bucking up for a full pass). I like checking out new bands and the festival atmosphere. I like people watching, drinking, and loitering....I like heat, too (just not gorge 06 heat). And I have access to a condo in Vernon that could break up the drive and give us a nice mini-holiday before and after the show.
Ugh. Tough call. Gf's class load will be the deciding factor....at least I can blame her if I don't go and they play a full set with a cypress hill real thing reunion ;)

Noel and Jesse Roper would be interesting to watch. I'd probably go if they were later in the day (like if Noel had the set right before PJ). If they were there earlier in the day it would be really hard to be at the festival all day long.

I'm still glad i'm going. I'm going all the way to Chicago to see PJ in August, so it seemed kind of wierd not going when they're playing in the same province I live in. Haven't been to the Whistler area in ages, so that's kind of cool too.

I'm sure Noel will be playing a late set. He headlines festivals around the world. Would expect him to be before PJ on the main stage or the headliner on the second stage at the very least.

I'm pretty happy they announced this a month in advance. It seems in previous years you might of gotten two weeks tops. I wonder if sales are a bit slower than normal?

Either way i'm stoked it's announced and I made it work. Now I'm seeing PJ a month earlier than expected. A good warmup for Wrigley :)

Yeah!! Totally, I'm going to Fenway and Wrigley too, so this'll be a nice backyard show in preparation!!

I suspect PJ will get 2.5 hours or so. It is in the middle of nowhere so curfew is not an issue. In fact I am therefore hoping for a full 3 hour set. I could be wrong
The heat last year was BAD. I went a couple days around 2pm and I won't do that again if it is 38c everyday. The previous year it was cloudy and in the high 20's. It was perfect. Let's hope for that.
Coleman Hell, Noel Gallagher (who plays some Oasis tunes too) and Glorious Sons (awesome live show) are also on Sunday. If you live close I'd say buck up and make the trip.

Do they have a noise curfew at Pemberton? I'm not familiar with the geography or how close the festival site is to the actual town. I imagine the sound travels pretty far out there.

If there's no noise curfew I could see PJ having a decently long set. If they have a noise curfew that could be pretty tight. Especially considering (in my experience) festivals have a really hard time adhering to their schedules :)

I think if PJ wants to go over curfew they're go over curfew.
Just thinking that it's a bit of a bummer that the one band who is known for amazingly long shows gets the one night when the curfew is 2 hours earlier. Pretty lame unless the headliner of Sunday starts earlier than on the other nights.

I feel pretty confident that PJ will get plenty of playing time and an earlier start. In a recent interview the promoter mentioned that he started the festival with Pearl Jam in mind the whole time.

wierd.. so you saw an option to have it mailed out (opposed to electronic?). Damn.

btw how does the parking pass work? Is there a parking lot near where the shuttle picks you up?

I think things just changed because of the fears of a postal strike. They stopped mailing anything out just last week I think, and changed the options to picking the tix up at their version of will call, or printing them out.
