GA ticket questions

Statmaster1Statmaster1 St Louis Missouri Posts: 26
Have seen PJ 8 times but never been in GA (taking my 17 year old son to Lexington show)
How much before the show do they open the doors? Assume 7:30 show time what time do the doors usually open?
What time should I get there to line up? Sounds like 4 pm or so?
Can you bring a chair or cooler while lined up outside?
How difficult is it to leave before the show starts or during encores to grab a beverage or hit the restroom and get back to your spot?
Would you advise against having a beer in hand in the GA area?
Last one I swear, how long after the show does the band appear usually to try and get a pic or autograph of Eddie. (My son and I are staying overnight before driving back to St. Louis)

Thanks everyone in advance!

In my humble opinion, don't wait in line to be on the rail. If you nonchalantly walk into the venue just after 6:30 or when the doors open you will be able to grab merch inside and then head into GA and probably still be 4 people off the rail. Much better than wasting 5+ hrs for a chance at rail in my opinion. If you have to have the rail, camp out around 1pm day of. best wishes.

For Worcester I (3 people off the rail between Jeff and Ed) and Denver (5 people off the rail center) i arrived at noon in line...

Doors openned at 6pm... Worcester I was a mess goin' in (everyone was running and at the door 2 security staff were searching womens and 1 guard was searching mens)

In Denver a PJ staff member escorted us to the rail...

I'd assume Kentucky shows will have slightly less demand of rail seekers.

Worcester security over the years has been known to be excessive at times.

Ok lets go trough your questions:

GA line enters at 6... general admission about 15-20 minutes after...

Like you were told before, between noon and 2 pm is a good time to step in line

You can wait in line with chairs/cooler... PJ staff comes outside telling every one to put back their stuff in their cars about 30 minutes before going in

Take time to discuss with other 10C members... you will see that your fellow jammers will gladly hold your place in line if you need to step out of the line for a couple of minutes... they will probably ask you to bring some stuff back for them too!

They never advise us in Denver for the booze or other stuff... just keep your spot clean... everyone had something to drink around us...

Last question i don't know... never stayed long enough to see if PJ comes around to sign things...

Question..above was stated that GA line enters at 6..GA 15-20 min after..isnt Ga all the same...meaning the 10c Ga were simply pre sale to members and if it sold out, there would be no GA seats to the public..wrong?

I've been rail twice, just in the crowd once. Both amazing experiences. I think rail is something everyone should do once--put in your time, make friends in line while the anticipation of the show builds, then that front row spot--there is nothing like it.

But since I've done rail twice, don't think I neeeeed to do it again. I've had my fill, and would like to explore the cities beforehand more now (or work, in the case of MSG/Philly!)

Rail #1 - Baltimore 2013- my birthday show. I was determined to get rail, so we got there at 6:45 AM and were 5th in line. Rail, in between Jeff and Eddie.

Crowd #1 - Leeds 2014 - knew Euro crowds were rougher and we were in Europe for crying out loud- no way we weren't gonna explore a bit before hitting the show! Got on the GA line about 1.5-2 hrs before doors and were pleasantly surprised how close we were. Probably about 7-10 'rows' from the front.

Rail #2- Detroit 2014 - Boyfriend's first hometown show, and the Joe/Red Wings means everything to him, so this one was for him. Got there at 5AM and were about 30-35th in line. Was all the way on Stone's side for this, another person or two and we'd have been past Stone.

Any PJ show is such a great time, however you decide to navigate your PJ experience, I'm sure you'll have a great time!

If you've got nothing better to do, you usually meet pretty cool people in the GA line which can pay benefits. You've obviously already got a lot to talk about being fellow fans. They will usually look out for you if you need to leave for a pee break or to stand in the merch line or grab a beer while in the pit. There's a comraderie, if only for a night. It's really not a bad way to spend a couple hours. I think every fan should experience it at least once.

If you're looking for a spot close to the rail you should probably get to the arena by about 8-9 am! I got to the arena around 8am for the last Memphis show and I was about 30 or 35th in line. I was standing 2nd row from the rail in the pit. Most of the people that were in front of me had stayed there overnight! Not going to that extreme! Standing in line you will meet some great people from all over though! It actually is a great experience. Hope this helps! Good luck
