Anyone still high on Lightning Bolt?

RiotZactRiotZact Posts: 6,201
Talk of the album has just about disappeared in the past 3 months or so, but I still jam to it at least a few times a week. None of the songs are really fading on me like almost all of backspacer did within a month or so and a couple of them are actually still growing on me. Anyone else having similar thoughts or is everyone bored with it?

I'm with you. I've been hooked on many of the songs on LB still...on bootlegs mostly. The track Lightning Bolt has grown to be my favorite along with Pendulum. All of it seems to be holding up for me a lot better than Backspacer (which I enjoyed btw)

Mind Your Manners and Lightning Bolt hooked me during the tour. Pendulum too. Yellow Moon was a keeper from day 1.

The rest us take or leave for me, but the four above are welcome additions to any PJ mix.

I m still loving the album. The only songs I always skip are sirens, sbm and infallible. Lighting bolt could be their best song since in hiding. Pendulum has the chance to become a classic

Totally forgot about Sirens! I think that song is beautiful but apparently it is easily forgotten.

I hadn't listened in a long time... maybe a couples months (Been listening to a ton of QOTSA)...just popped it in yesterday and its definitely got staying power as far as my rotation goes. My Fathers Son, Pendulum, and Sirens are the anchors IMO

Went a few months without hearing the album itself - was wrapped up in the bootlegs - and I'd forgot how bad Sleeping By Myself and Future Days are. Sirens I can deal with just about. Rest of the album is just fine. Looking forward to hearing most of the album live over the next 2 days! :)

Don't listen too often, but when I do I listen mostly just to Getaway, Mind Your Manners and Infallible. Three of their best songs in a decade. I thought My Father's Son would be a standout but that one hasn't held up for me. I liked it the one time I heard live though.

When one of your favorite bands releases a new album, sometimes you're afraid that they are "falling off."
But I was very relieved to find that Lightning Bolt was just as strong as other PJ releases over the years. Fresh, original material that I still enjoy.
  • RiotZactRiotZact Posts: 6,201
I think it's safe to say after 8 months that LB is more popular than BS was at the same point. I remember before the 2010 North America tour people were bitching about having to hear the BS songs again, not hearing any of that about the LB songs this tour.

Haven't listened to the record in awhile but I'm really excited hearing the new songs in the new bootlegs, think they sound great live. I was also really really sick of having nothing but backspacer songs for new songs from 2009-2012.

Well put. And will continue to enjoy forever. Getaway, lighting bolt, y moon, pendulum are still the highlights for me.

I love it...those first 3 tracks really puts a jump in my step! Than again I'm usually driving when listening...

Anyway I like Sirens but skip it due to emotional energy it can bring out. I love Lightning Bolt a 4 min song but feels always longer. I like SBM unlike others but unlike BOB feel that it is NOT a PJ song. I try hard with Yellow Moon but I can't get it yet. My wife loves Future Days.

Can't wait to hear you all at the Joe!

I too am loving lightning bolt start to (almost) finish. Future days is the only one I could do without though live versions are easier for me to take than the studio. Every other song I really love!
