Medical marijuana is being propelled forward by executive order in the state of NY. The governor has done a 180 on his position now in favor. :)

Good! Because really - what is the downside?

My back has been spasming pretty bad since Wednesday, so much that I stayed home from work yesterday. Took a muscle relaxer here and there, but the benefits of smoking strong Indica throughout the day are unmistakable.

And the fact that I'm heading to the dispensary this evening to re-stock is priceless.

have you tried edibles? (I'm sure you have)

I'm a big fan of eating the herb, a nicely baked cookie, or some pot hot chocolate, yum!

Mainly for my joint pains, works great, very soothing.

Sheesh...took me forever to find this thread.

First, Idris - the Volcano (I hope I got that right as I'm a bit buzzed at the moment :D ) that you recommended in the other thread looks and sounds beautiful but not sure I want to invest that much!

My sister-in-law has been using one similar to the black box-y in the video you'd posted. I think we might go that route.

As to stocks, holy hell! Advanced Cannabis Solutions is up around 600%, and we've been checking out others as well. Seems to be a very smart investment for us.

It's early on, but so far the recreational pot sales in CO seem to be working out well....sales and tax revenue have been better than expected, not hearing about any real problems at all with it. The banking piece still needs to get ironed out, but they're working on it and they'll come up with something. I'm sure other states will quickly follow us and WA. Makes so much sense and is so long overdue.

i did see the government is moving forward with setting rules to allow banks to loan and invest without fear of prosecution under the "money laundering" laws. i cant believe the tide is actually turning!! a few more states and federal will all but have to turn around. there is talk of medical on the ballot in ohio, i never thought it would make it that far lol!

Idris - You may be right (I may be crazy =P~ <---the fuck is that emoticon?).

My above-mentioned SIL recently told us the Volcano is THE vapeway to go.

I believe in smart investments, so...this may be a b-day present to myself come summertime!

rgambs, speaking of Ohio...my husband hails from Columbus, and his sister and oldest brother still live there. All four siblings suffer from polycystic kidney disease among other health issues, and the benefits of pot for each of them have been a godsend. I really hope the folks in their/your state - in all states - get that same access (*edit - legal/no hassle access) to this medicine.

You're right, the fed did give the banks an okay to do business, but I keep reading that most of the banks are still reluctant, and close down the accounts when they find out the primary business is in marijuana. That will change soon I'd think, there is too much money to be made. I can't see how the growth won't be huge once all the states get on board with medical (hopefully soon - c'mon) and more states legalize recreational. A few weeks ago at the governor's meeting in DC our gov (Hickenlooper) told the others he'd recommend waiting and watching how recreational legalization works out in CO (and WA) for 2 years, and then consider taking the leap.....

The Marijuana Index[tm] Soars 125% in February as S&P 500 Sets Record High of 1859.45

Amidst a media frenzy surrounding marijuana and marijuana stocks which included CNBC’s Marijuana in America: The Colorado Pot Rush, The Marijuana Index™ experienced significant volume and price fluctuations throughout the month of February 2014.
The Marijuana Index™ hovered around $25 at the beginning of February, and closed the month at $56.21, reflecting a gain of 125%. The total index valuation soared beyond $6 billion, partly due to CannaVest (OTCQB: CANV) achieving unprecedented valuations and following several listing additions to the index. Some companies experienced all-time highs while overall trading volume remains strong.
February featured President Obama’s landmark signing of federal legislation which removes barriers for the cultivation of hemp in the United States, and long-awaited advancements in banking regulations were announced which allow legal marijuana businesses to secure loans and setup checking and savings accounts with banks. Though industry insiders remain cautious, the move illustrates a commitment to eliminating challenges inherent in a cash-flushed cannabis business. A group of 18 Congress members even urged President Obama to reschedule marijuana, which he initially stated was not within his executive powers. The President could experience increased pressure on the topic, where marijuana is illogically listed alongside heroin as having no medicinal benefit.

    Notable Gainers in February
Abattis Bioceuticals closed the month of February at $.35 after opening at $.119, reflecting a gain of 194%. Abattis acquired worldwide distribution rights for a line of cultivation products, closed a $600,000 private placement, and signed an LOI to acquire a hydroponic fertilizer company.
Advanced Cannabis Solutions closed the month at $33.15 per share after opening at $14.29, reflecting a gain of 132%. The company recently announced a line of credit of up to $30 million from Full Circle Capital Corp. (NASDAQ:FULL), a closed end investment company, and subsequently filed an S1 registration statement with the SEC.
CannaVest once reached 52-week highs of $201, reflecting the company’s low public float and recent developments which included increased production from their US Hemp Oil subsidiary, and PhytoSphere Systems winning a third High Times Medical Cannabis Cup award for Highest CBD Concentrate. Shares closed the month of February at $147.07 after opening at $68.01, reflecting a gain of 116%.
New index addition Zoned Properties opened February at $2.66, and closed the month at $14.29, reflecting a gain of 437%. The company signed a purchase agreement for an 83,000 square foot facility in Tempe, Arizona and made a key hire in VP of Operations and Sustainability, Bryan McLaren.

The mints (mine were chai) are a good way to go, because the THC content is supposedly more uniform and it's easier to gauge how much you're getting (10 mg per mint; comes in a tin of ten mints). Try sativa-heavier hybrid and hopefully you'll still get the soothing effect without getting so sleepy. But I guess I'm getting off-topic...

    Bump.
I own the following at an average price of:

    APH: $12.35
    ACB: $7.34
    GLH: $0.34

Portfoilio is 40% down at the moment. This can change very quickly in either direction. I'm prepared to lose it all, but confident I'll make some profits.

There is a company in Leamington Ontario called Aphria, they are one of Canada's largest producers, their stock took a beating this week, some short sellers made some accusations about the company, the company has denied the allegations...might be worth researching.

Do it, Faxxxxii!  My husband has had the majority of his stock for a while in Namaste, a Canadian company.  We also like Kush Bottles.  Much research to find the solid ones, but they're worth it.

I've never had pot stocks but I have one of these:
