I find Dave Grohl is not a very talented singer/songwriter

Am I the only one who doesn't think as highly as it seems everyone else does of this guy.

Not a hater, but I don't think he's some god like alot of people do. I think he's hypocritical and maybe not quite the cool rock dude that he makes himself out to be.

  • Care to elaborate?

I know of countless other high profile rock stars that suck more.

  • Thank you ur right I dont really hate him either. I just feel hes really overated and only as popular as he is because of Nirvana. I also kind of find Nirvana overated as well tho to tell you the truth.
  • Very well. I just feel he has to be everywhere and it annoys me because hes not that great. Eddie puts him to shame.

But here's the thing... the same comments you made for Grohl I have heard others make for Eddie.

I think as far as rock stars go... he's pretty cool. I don't know him enough to make any solid judgements about him, but I can tell by the respect he seems to have for his peers that there's got to be something 'cool' about him.

Man this dude is Greatness if you don't think so it's ur own opinion but I don't think so.
Not only is he a great drummer he is a great musician! He blows eddie away when it comes to over
all musician. Hell Eddie will tell you that, his first 4 albums he did everything, bass drums and guitar.
Jerry Cantrell had a quote saying "no drummer should be able to play guitar that good"
He is a bad ass top ten for sure of this era just my opinion.
check out the work of skin and bones, enough said
    until next time......
  • Meh I just dont feel it. He should of stuck to drumming. His singing and lyrics are pretty horrible.

  • hmmm...While I agree, everything Grohl touches isn't GOLD, I will say I'm a big fan of his musical output, specifically:
-the Foo Fighter's first two records
-the drumming he did on the Queens' Songs for the Deaf (MINDBLOWING)
    -the PROBOT record
-the THEM CROOKED VULTURES record with josh and john paul jones was EPIC
-Heck, I even liked most of that last Foos record, WASTING LIGHT

I agree. After the first 2 albums the Foo's went a bit boring and predictable but He's a really great drummer and his other projects like Probot and Sound City are great. I wish he would ditch the Foo's for a while and did more side stuff.
  • Ya its really mainly the foos that annoy me lately I havent checked out his other stuff

I just don't like how the Foos sound so generic to me. I'd rather take even annoying over boring.

  • I like the person, but his music never really grabbed me. I reckon I haven't heard the right stuff.
Or perhaps it's just not for me. I do feel he is an alright guy though.

I know it's not a popular opinion around here, but McCready is not all that great. Same goes for Grohl as a drummer and/or guitarist. He's definitely drummed on some great songs and written some great hooks, though.

Grohl would be a much better frontman if he didn't cut every line short to fucking scream.

Wouldn't you expect a God to be proficient in more than just one instrument?
