Based on another thread discussion I thought it would be fun to see what people think are the correct lyrics to certain songs. First one up, Corduroy.

Lyric in question: Everything has _______________, absolutely nothing's changed.....

    I don't think that the writer of Spin using "changed" makes it the official lyric. Eddie was never asked about the line in the interview. Chains. I stand by it.

    It's totally possible, and most likely, that the journalist heard an advanced copy of the record and arrived at his own lyrical conclusion.

    You've never heard of early releases for magazines and critics so they can have their rating for it when it's released? Unless I missed some paragraph in the interview where Ed quotes the lines, the interviewer was more than likely looking for a title for his article, interpreted what he thought he hears, thought it sounded good, and used it.

    I guess it's chains since this website says so, but I always thought it was changed, and it had a lot more meaning to me that way.... this poll has ruined the line for me dammit.

    To me, "chains" makes most sense.
    But I think the fact that the two words are so much alike, or are actually the same, is actually the beauty of that part of the song, and what makes the lyrics so interesting. Even if you are completely certain that he sings one or the other, Eddie still uses the words in such a way that you can never really be sure....

    "Everything has chains, absolutely nothing's changed" - Makes perfect sense. Especially when you consider what the song is about.

    I think Eddie's singing "chains", but I honestly liked it a lot more when I thought it was "changed".

    He's sung it both ways. It's a play on words, and I believe it's meant to be "changed", but on the album I really think he says "chains" so that's what I voted for.

    Now, don't get me started on Faithful. You people who think it's "a furry thing" make my stomach churn ;)
