Seattle 12/6/13....Underrated

I feel when the Seattle Bootleg is released (It's taking way too long to release them) I think people will release how underrated that show was. I think it was probably over hpyed....but it really was a fantastic show. It was a great mix of fantastic hits (Alive, Daughter, Even Flow, Betterman, ect....), fan favorites (Small Town, Corduroy, Nothingman, Crown of Thorns, Breath) new songs (Lighting Bolt, Getaway, Sirens) and songs that don't get played as much (LET ME SLEEP, Garden, Pilate, In My Tree, Supersonic). When the bootleg comes out..people will see! :D

The problem is hype. Each tour's most hyped up show is usually viewed as a let down. Its impossible for them to play a show that will satisfy everyone. But, the Seattle setlist was great and I'm sure the boot will show that. Looking forward to getting it.

Exactly...that's why some of the best shows this tour are the ones that nobody was expecting.

I now go into shows expecting standard sets and anything special is an added bonus. PJ20 Night 1 had some insanely rare stuff and people still knocked it. Oh well, it happens.

And it's all about that moment..sure....setlist on paper compared to the boots always makes the difference...but the big diffrence is actually being at the show. The Seattle show had a great atmosphere, crowd, the band was happy..ect...it's all about the actual experience.

Who cares what other people think? Honestly...someone started a thread arguing that there was too much Ten on this tour. To me, there is no such thing.

Like what you want. If it was a great show to you, that's all that matters. To me, there really is no such thing as a bad PJ show (yes, even - gasp - festival shows, snobs :)>-

The Seattle show was great, but what it suffers from (in part the hype) was the rest of the tour was consistently amazing/crazy each night. This Seattle setlist would have gone down in history if it was played at Copenhagen 2012, but when compared with other 2013 shows like Brooklyn, Philly, Charlottesville, Hartford, Phoenix, San Diego and Vancouver it became just another one of the amazing nights of the tour.

I can't unbiasedly judge the Seattle show because my seats sucked (was up in the 2nd level behind the stage, and the metal bird thing really blocked a lot of the view). From that vantage point it looked like the rest of the arena was into it. I did get to hear breath which was pretty kickass. I still preferred Vancouver but how can you unbiasedly compared 2 shows where one show you were at the front of the floor in the thick of it, and the next show you were behind the stage and only able to see Vedder and only on the songs where the bird metal thing was raised (the whole stage was blocked when it was lowered).

From a setlist perspective, the Vancouver show had the better setlist for me. For no reason other than all the non rarities all seemed to be a lot of my favorite pj songs.

I thought Seattle was pretty solid and would of enjoyed it more with better seats. I am eager to hear the boot.

No....just wondering if other people thought similar...it's all opinions.....If no one thinks Seattle is underrated, then fine. But with all these other threads about other shows, just thought I would bring Seattle into the conversation.

The show got a lot of shit right after it happened because of the crowd and not enough rarities but goddamn It was a good show (kicked the shit out of the 09 shows) Breath was amazing

The Seattle show was awesome, it was over hyped by all us fans but that is our own fault. I went from the pit in Van to one row down from the wall in the nosebleeds but I gotta tell you I rocked it out all night and never felt liked the band didn't deliver 100%. The only part that was a little disappointing was the 2nd encore was very similar to Van would have liked a little more variety. However if I had to pick seeing the same thing all the time or never seeing them again then press the repeat button again and again.

I had a blast the whole time I was in Seattle. The concert was great, the people of Seattle were awesome, all the out of townerslike me were fun to be around, The Black Crowes were fantastic. Other than getting stuck in Chicago on the way back I can't think of anything that would have made the trip better.

A great example of this is when Mark Arm came out for Kick Out the Jams. I came into the show expecting it and was a little disappointed when it happened... even if it was awesome. Overall it was still a great show, they're all great shows, and I loved every minute of it.
  • How about the London, Ontario bootleg. That was in July and still no bootlegs for it. Thats disappointing. Seattle was in december youve barely had to wait.
P.S. show in Hamilton, Ontario 2011 was one of the best. If you want a good bootleg download that one. They blew my mind that night. Most memorable concert.
  • It was a great show amongst a whole tour of great shows. One sticking out head and shoulders is going to be tough. I saw 4 shows and thought that the BK2 crowd was amazing and made it better for me.
Seattle did have Breath, Garden and In my tree which was one of my Favorites.

I know my son was Jacked Up after this one, because they played the only 3 songs he REALLY wanted....Nothingman, Chloe/Crown, and YLB. He didn't know half of the other ones. I was dissapointed after Ed announced that they would be playing Of The Earth, and then didn't. I also thought there was a really good chance of Hold On. Then we got to see the setlist, and saw they were scratched. Still, I was more than happy getting Pilate, In My Tree, Chloe/Crown, Breath, and especially Let Me Sleep. I would have bet money they would never play that one again, even though it is a hell of a song. That one alone was worth my trip, but then, anytime you get to watch the greatest band on earth, it is a pretty good night! Aaaaand, that IS the 1st time they have played all the Singles songs in one show, so we have that going for us.

I flew in from Denver to see the Seattle show and completed a life long bucket list. I thought that the show was awesome and heard many songs that were on my wish list: Small Town, Corduroy. Given to Fly, Garden, Porch, Rearview Mirror, Cloe/Crown of Thorns, Breath, State of Love and Trust (great trilogy!) not to mention the nice mix from Lighting Bolt! Let Me Sleep & Pilate were real treats and I was glad to be there for those songs. The performance from the band was incredible and they all seemed truly happy to be performing in their home town. I loved seeing the smiles on all their faces, particularly Eddie's. Calling the show underrated doesn't give it the credit that it deserves, each show is such a personal experience for the fans that attend that I don't think you can call any show better than others. Pearl Jam pours their heart and soul into every show for their fans, that alone makes every performance incredible!
