the dissappearance of Yellow Ledbetter

  • I went to both Philly shows - and I'm not one to complain about hearing the same songs several times - but I was surprised that they played pretty much exactly the same Lightning Bolt songs both nights and the (cheesy) Porch swinging seem to be included every show.

I agree. I was at both shows too and the whole Porch swinging thing i thought was cool the first night, but when he did the same thing again night two I actually thought it was kind of funny.
  • No such thing as too much Porch. Yellow Ledbetter needs a break. I do enjoy hearing it live but it has closed all but two shows I have been to.

I got it 7 out of 16 shows. I still enjoy it but would like to keep it at an every other show or less pace.

They need to practice doing things more spontaneously.

Count the number of songs that have closed the 1st or 2nd set this tour vs previous tours. you will be surprised. and not in a good way

    RVM
    Betterman
    Porch

I've followed this tour (going to one show), and following the set list on the others, so I'm not surprised.

I also don't have any issue with this choice.

Eddie does it right in my opinion.

Your opinion is wrong. These sets have become quite predictable with a few variations. Yes, they throw in some unique ones each show, but for the most part, you know exactly what you're going to get. It is different for this tour than all previous tours. It had to be a conscious decision.

For example, the 2012 Euro tour had 13 dates. We have had 15 dates since the Pittsburgh opener. As mentioned above, there have only been 3 songs to close the main set or the 1st encore. For the 2012 Euro tour, here is the list:

    Porch
    Why Go
    Rearviewmirror
    Better Man
    Do The Evolution
    Come Back
    Jeremy
    - 7 in two fewer dates

For the 13 date US 2010 tour-
    Why Go
    Porch
    Do The Evolution
    Rearviewmirror
    The FIxer
    Go
    Better Man
    Blood
    Gonna See My Friend
    Once
    - 10 in two fewer dates

This tour, 15 shows, only 3

Not sure if you're aware but they play around 30 songs every night, you're talking about one spot of those 30. "For the most part you know exactly what you are going to get" so you are saying you can call which songs are coming next with songs 2-18? I would be impressed to see that, or how about any song between yellow moon and the set closer of the 1st encore? You are talking about such an insanely small portion of the concert that is predictable, and throwing the other 25+ songs under the bus.

How about everyone stops complaining about the sets. You kids go to 5-10 shows a tour and then have the balls to complain about hearing repeats? Blow me. I haven't seen Pearl Jam since 2006 because you hoarders need to go to as many shows as possible.
Honestly, if the shows are getting stale, it's probably because you've been to too many. Spread the wealth.

I agree with your point but I must say, people doing multiple shows has no effect on you going to any.

I have yet to not be able to attend a show I wanted to.

There are options. 10c first, then ticketmaster.

After that there is actively seeking a ticket on the forums.

If that doesn't work there is stub hub. If that's too pricey, go to the preparty. If all else fails then go to the venue and find a scalper.

Again, not saying we should have to go this route, but, there are multiple options available to you.

Plain and simple if you want to be there, you'll be there.

Have you been to a show where UK was played?

It works wonders every time. Like Even Flow.

Even Flow I can't stand either and I have seen that many times, not an example to inspire me, and I will probably have to hear both in Phoenix, fortunately there are only a handful of PJ songs I can't stand

I'm prob gonna get killed for this, but I'm actually kinda happy. I was never a huge fan of the song, and I really don't like it closing shows at all.

    Me, too.

I agree with the complaining part. Too much of it going on. For those that have to complain about seeing the same song performed too many times live, you have to remember that not every fan has been to a billion shows. I have been a fan since '92' but I have only been to 2 concerts. I am doubling my overall total this year by going to LA 1&2. Only seeing PJ in concert twice so far does not make me less of a fan than somebody who has been to 100+ shows. You may have seen a song performed multiple times but for someone else it's their first time and it may be the only time they ever get to see it. Remember, the band plays music for the people, not just for you. Please, just be grateful for what you have. Be grateful that the band is together after 20+ years! grateful that they are still making music! and grateful that they are still performing live! Be grateful that you have seen yellow Ledbetter close out soooooo many shows and been fortunate enough to go to so many shows. For me yellow Ledbetter is my all time favorite song. Not just by PJ but by any artist. That song touches my soul. I have not been fortunate enough to see my favorite song, by my favorite band, performed live before. It is on my bucket list to see it live just once ( fingers crossed for LA 1 or 2) and if I am so lucky I will be forever grateful. And if I ever get to see it or any other PJ song performed live multiple times I will consider myself blessed and my life full.

P.S. Sorry for the rant and thank you for your time.

  • Went to my first 2 shows on this tour and was more than happy with the amount of variety. I think it was nearly a 20 song difference. I can't imagine any other band out there doing that. Simply put they do an amazing job of catering to both the 100 show people and the person who may be able to get in 1 a decade.
