MATT CAMERON LEAVES SOUNDGARDEN FOR PJ!
"Hello Knights of the Soundtable faithful,
I will be taking 2014 off from Soundgarden touring due to prior commitments promoting "Lightning Bolt" with my brothers in Pearl Jam and the desire to have more time at home with my family. I am trying to balance the many twists and turns of my awesome music career. This is temporary. I am still an active member of Soundgarden. Chris, Ben, Kim and I are in the process of finding the perfect substitute for the upcoming Soundgarden dates in 2014.
Thank you all for listening and the Years of Support!
Loudest of Love.
Matt Cameron"

That means more tour dates in 2014!!
And wow is that thread title misleading.
I am still an active member of Soundgarden.
I didn't see the other post..
And yes, technically he has left the drum stool of sound garden, to play drums for pj.
So he did leave Sg for Pj.
Lets all remeber when jack left pj he was on "hiatus" as well..
Thanks for the insults.
Did I leave my house to be somewhere else? Yes

People want to jump all over people! I quoted Matt's own words in the thread.
And again, he is leaving SG. He won't be on tour with them.
He chose to do that to be the drummer for pearl jam...
So I agree, I don't get the insults.
But there is a good thread on this already. And I didn't know that..
Lets all continue the discussion here - viewtopic.php?f=4&t=224492
I guess we won
A bit harsh & uncalled for.
If you go to a SG show next year and you look behind the drum kit, that won't be Matt sitting there. So, he has in a way temporarily left SG to be somewhere else.
I like one of the first lines in his statement where he stated he is leaving due to "prior commitments". So, let the rumors start about where those commitments are at.
More PJ ! I love it!

I would never be so lucky to see Dave play.
To see PJ's music played with the funk and tight groove, sigh. I really wish.
Jimmy Chamberlain is the only drummer who can likely balance the PJ / SG line between Dave and Matt.

Yeah - my thoughts on a worthy replacement lean towards Jimmy Chamberlain as well, maybe Josh Freese or Ray Luzier could pull it off as well.
It's funny, people will spend a hundred pages speculating that Jeff walked off stage because he was mad at Ed, with absolutely no proof, but when someone shares news with a slightly misleading title they are declared an idiot. :fp:
Man, what a place!
Here's a little Jimmy for everyone.

SG would be a piece of cake for him. PJ would be too.

Slightly off topic, but on topic of this post: I saw Soundgarden when they first got back together in Jersey in a hoops/hockey arena. Seemed empty. Show wasn't so great. Then I saw them in a smaller venue in NYC and it was perfect for them and the crowd. If they continue to do that and play festivals they'll be just fine. Obviously for MAtt to keep his hat in both rings is brilliant. Again, I don't think Matt will miss much with either band in 2014.
Looks like Europe 2014
