I thought it was cool, I respected the fact that he sang with his eyes closed, that means you are feeling it and have the lyrics memorized which to me shows he is a fan, obviously not like Pearl Jam would do it but a very nice tribute, wish Mikey had done a longer solo

  • First one of the week I really didn't like. Questlove was great but I thought the rest was pretty boring.

Meh. The Fleet Foxes guy was a lot better in my opinion. I can't believe people not liking him and yet liking this guy.....Mike and the Roots were awesome though.

I liked it. Not a country fan and although I have heard of Dierks Bentley, have never heard any of his music. Thought the roots were awesome and added a lot of energy, not that this song needed it.

This is exactly what I was thinking. At least they added an original touch to Corduroy. This one just sounded like a bad version of Alive.

I thought he did OK. Not really a very good singer but admittedly this is the only time I've heard him sing.

Much better than the FF debacle

I often wonder why Bristish singers sing with an american accent but country singers sing with a country accent...

Is that just part of the "country" get up? :?

Really like the organ sound. Wish Boom would play that, or be turned up in the mix to get that sound.
  • Musically great, but as far as DB goes....let's just say that I didn't think I could appreciate Ed more until I heard that. Country guys, for the most part, just can't sing.

Damn the Roots are good though!

Mike McCready + Questlove = awesomeness. I would of loved it with Kermit the frog singing with those two involved.

I thought it was pretty good. I just think Alive might not have been a good song choice for his voice. Daughter would've been a better fit for his singing style, IMO. And of course Mike was awesome, as usual.

Hasn't always been. But since musically, nowadays, it's basically Nickelback, they have to do something to let you know it's country.
  • Are you sure this guy is a singer? Or is he a porn star? Dierks Bentley just sounds like a porn star to me. :D

Wednesday for me was more like Mike McCready and The Roots doing Pearl Jam's "Alive" (with some other guy singing). I thought it was a fun performance. The Roots looked like they were having a fucking blast rocking out with McCready! Dierks Bentley did fine. Im glad he didn't try to do more with his vocals. He just sorta sang the song in his range and rocked out with the a bunch of kick ass musicians.

Tried watching it on Fallon's website and an advertisement cuts the performance short right in the middle of Mike's solo!

Mike was awesome; that's expected. It was great to hear The Roots do some PJ, I really dug that. DB. however, didn't do it for me. I didn't hate it, just couldn't get into it. Liked the first two performances but this one not so much. PJ tonight and tomorrow!

    Sounded like bad Karaoke.

Mike + the Roots = pure awesomeness

Once again, just like Fleet Foxes dude, bad song selection. Dierks is a country guy, right? Maybe pick something more in his wheelhouse.

the whole thing was a little off until Mike's solo kicked in. by the end of the song I was agreeing with Fallon:

"That is how you do it!!!"
  • Mike was great. The singer sucked.

    ^Exactly that.

It was a bit embarrassing watching Dierks attempt to sing that.
