And it really is a hole in the wall. It's really just a take-out counter, but there are a few seats in there. It's fucking amazing. They are only open weekdays, 11am - 3pm or earlier if they run out of food. They are only open for this short amount of time because they don't think that BBQ that is more than 4 hours old is worth serving. They take their BBQ seriously. Brisket (*drool*), pulled pork, and turkey if I remember correctly. Best BBQ I've ever had. So get there early to make sure you get some, and don't forget the beans - they are also amazing. :)
    Sounds great!!

There's a place in Lake City and in Sea-Tac that are pretty good, but those are both short drives.

Good stuff, but I actually like the BBQ at Waterfront Ale House on Atlantic better. I think I'm alone on that one. There's a special place in my stomach for their mustard slaw and their homemade hot sauce (Sam's, I think). Nom!

Vancouver is loaded with Sushi and health food places. There are more sushi restaurants than Starbucks. Just stand on a street and turn around once, and you'll probably see one. Most are super cheap and tasty fresh. Commercial Drive between Broadway and Parker is a good place to go for unique independent places, vegetarian, ethiopian, authentic Mexican, and tapas.... there is also a good record store there. :) ... And if you want to buy weed, you'll probably find some there... If you have a prescription for medical marijuana, or simply want to buy a new bong, there is a medical dealer shop there too. Something for everyone on that strip! :P

  • Great idea. I'm a vegetarian so these are all places that have great veggie/vegan food.

    Seattle
Araya's ---> Vegan Thai. In the U-district. AMAZING!
Bamboo Garden ---> Vegan/Kosher Chinese. A couple blocks from the Key Arena (try the "chicken" balls!)
Georgetown Liqour Company ----> Veggie/Vegan american. In Georgetown (southern end of Seattle). Sandwiches include the Picard and Darth Ruben. They have a nice brunch on the weekends. (open late)
Meanders ----> Brunch/lunch, Veggie friendly. In the White Center neighborhood of West Seattle. Terrific breakfast items... highly recommend the biscuts and gravy. (closes at 3pm, but does have late nights on friday and saturday)
Easy Street cafe ---> Brunch/lunch, veggie friendly. West Seattle, cafe inside the record store... great food and the largest mimosas you will ever see! (open 7am-ish to 3pm)

    Vancouver
Hun's Wun Tun House ----> Asain, with separate veggie and meat kitchens.
Cafe' Crepe ---> several around town... great crepes and even better drink prices!

True . . . But if you go to Voodoo II on the East side, you will only wait in line for a few minutes vs. potentially an hour.

Skip the Blazing Blunt, it's not that tasty.

Practially Famous Fried Chicken: (don't expect gourmet, this place is streeeeet)

    (704) 333-9866

    ***
    Best Hipster Diner In Town:

    1600 W Morehead St, Charlotte, NC ‎
    (704) 332-0402

    ***
Lotta people from Charlotte have this place on boycott cuz of ownership horseshit,
but it made it to that TV Show "Dives and Dine-Ins" or whatever. Pinky's is better,
and half of their staff moved over there. But give it a try if you must:

    The Penguin Drive-In
1921 Commonwealth Ave, Charlotte, NC ‎
    (704) 375-1925

    ***
This place has been my fav since highschool.
Order at the counter. The "chicken and black bean combo" is fucking where its at.
Get extra beans as your side item. Add a shit load more onions from the condiment bar,
and get an extra cup of the jaco sauce, smother it. and chow down. nom nom nom.

    The Roasting Company
1601 Montford Dr, Charlotte, NC ‎
    (704) 521-8188

    ***
A great place to hang out and get beer, burgers, and bar food, its hugely popular, and bound to be packed day of show:
    Philosopher's Stone Tavern
    1958 E 7th St, Charlotte, NC ‎
    (704) 350-1331

    ***
Up the street a bit from the P-Stone -- a general store, great place to grab bottled beer, or draft beer, and you can drink on premise, and they have "hippie food" at a deli counter ... great place to find dread heads, and hipsters alike (2 locations, and going to either will put you in an area smack dab in the center of hipsters, youth culture, food, bars, etc)
    The Common Market
2007 Commonwealth Ave, Charlotte, NC ‎
    (704) 334-6209

    "new" second location:
    The Common Market
    1515 S Tryon St, Charlotte, NC ‎
    (704) 332-7782

    ***
around the corner from Common Market on Commonwealth:
Great place to hear a DJ, see upscale hipsters, and eat fusion small plates:
    Soul Gastrolounge
1500 Central Ave Charlotte, NC 28205
    (704) 348-1848

    ******
Good art bar with great beer on tap directly underneath Soul (above entry) [no food]
    Art Twenty-Two
1500 Central Ave Charlotte, NC 28205
    (704) 334-0122

    ***
On my personal boycott list since the half owner (a good friend of a friend) got fucked, but the place is still pretty great, and also right in the same cross street section of town as Common Market

    Zada Jane's Corner Cafe
1601 Central Ave, Charlotte, NC ‎
    (704) 332-3663

    ***
down the street a block the other way from Common Market, and if you are stupid hungry or just want to fuck with yourself, get try eating their "Diamond Challenge" or whatever its called. The biggest fucking club sandwich ever for like $20 ... straight up around 3lbs of meat on it or some horseshit:
    Diamond Restaurant
1901 Commonwealth Ave, Charlotte, NC ‎
    (704) 375-8959

    ***
down the street from the common market area:
This place is twice as crazy as the name, owned (now formerly owned?) by charlotte-area infamous pedophile "KC", the evil-mad-genius behind the long-gone (and fabulous) "Fat City" in "North Davidson" before it became "NoDa". Place is like asian-fucked-in-the-face-mexican-fusion (i don't know?) large portions (some items) crazy ass decorations (half of them made by children), strong margaritas, and (for me at least) memories of being offered "a nap on my couch" by the owner, who would serve underage kids in the hopes of getting in their pants (i mean his pad was the top floor of Fat City -- "hey go upstairs, smoke some weed, and lie down, its cool" -- doh. no its not.)
TRY THE FUCKING BLACK EYED PEA SALAD (the only thing on the menu from the former joint, Fat City, it is THA BOMB)

    Krazy Fish
2501 Central Ave, Charlotte, NC ‎
    (704) 332-1004
If I was to smile and I held out my hand

Easy Street serves up a great breakfast-good place to people watch too ;)
