I remember listening to an interview with Mike on PJ Radio a couple of years back talking about the Hootenanny for the Gulf and it gave me an idea to write a YA Novel that ended up being titled, THE BIG HOOT. Well, a dream came true for me a couple of weeks ago when I found out that I am going to be published! I'm still on cloud nine.

So, the publisher wanted me to create a webpage along with a Twitter account. I decided to do a fan page on Facebook (since they are free) and a Twitter page. If you have either Facebook and/or Twitter - PLEASE add me! I would love to show the publisher that I can get a bunch of "likes" and tweets. If it's possible, please share these two pages with your friends.

Throughout the book, there are a few other PJ references as well - one of the main character's last name is Gossard, the main character listens to PJ to get pumped up before a basketball game, the club they play the hootenanny in is called The Red Mosquito, and the main character (Harper - named after Ben Harper) wears a PJ shirt in one scene - the orange shirt with the half man/half ape from the 1998 tour. I'm sure there are more references, but those are some off of the top of my head.

The book is due out towards the end of this year (ebook: 12/1/13 and then in paperback a few weeks later).

    Plot:

The Big Hoot is an adventure novel about a teenage boy named Harper Johnson, who plays basketball and the guitar. Harper has never met his father before, but at the start of the book, he finds a clue that his father has been living in New Orleans, Louisiana, as a musician. The book takes the reader through Harper’s first high school basketball season and his journey to New Orleans to search for his father. After reaching the Big Easy, Harper learns that his father is in the hospital with a coma and does not have any insurance. In a plea to save his father life, Harper puts together a fundraiser, or a hootenanny, in order to get the help his father desperately needs to get better.

This is awesome! Congratulations! I think I'm about to embark on writing something myself and this is good creative juju to have going out into the universe.

Congrats again and good luck. I'll see you on Twitter. I'm @davestroble.

I have realized too late that it is indeed a great release for me as well. As far as genre, I'd say it would be classified as a thriller.
