Food while on tour......

For people traveling to see Pearl Jam later this year, maybe some locals to each city can add their favorite places to get good food. While plenty of people are living on peanut butter sandwiches and water until show time, Im sure come fall, they would like to check out some places to grub while in a new city.
If you have recommendations, add them here!

p.s- i'm sure there will be some friendly arguments about which places are better than others but, its all in fun! :D

Here is a link to another thread with Things to do in each city-
viewtopic.php?f=4&t=215041

SAN FRANCISCO area-

http://ilikeikesplace.com/ (sandwiches)
AMAZING sandwiches that are NOTHING like subway or Quiznos!

http://www.doggy-stylehotdogs.com
Crazy looking hot dogs with asian twists

LOS ANGELES-

http://www.originaltommys.com/menu/ (burgers)
This one is my fave. Everyone goes to L.A talking about In n Out which i think is over rated! For something different, try Tommys double chili burger and chili cheese fries! The Beverly/Rampart location is the original and the best one!

GLUTEN FREE:
this place is a 3 minute walk from the venue in L.A

Some of my favorite LA spots, some of them meat heavy but most have great veggie options.

Downtown area

Mendocino Farms: (super yummy sandwiches, salads, soups sides, organic, lots of vegetarian options as well as beer and wine) several locations downtown, valley and westside http://mendocinofarms.com/uploads/2012/ ... bMenu1.pdf

Umamicatessen: the best burgers and porky stuff! Get the Manly burger or the Truffle burger. http://www.umami.com/umamicatessen/

Baco Mercat: (lots of veggie options!) simply the best mediterranean food...http://bacomercat.com/about.html

Sugarfish: Delicious sushi! http://sugarfishsushi.com/

Westside

Huckleberry: the most delicious pastries and baked goods! , best breakfast on the westside, (typical Santa Monica Farmer's Market food, lots of organic veggie options) http://www.huckleberrycafe.com/

Bay Cities Deli: Italian deli and sandwiches http://www.baycitiesitaliandeli.com/

Tsujita: the best Japanese noodles in town! Very porky. http://tsujita-la.com/

Gjelina: typical California food, lots of veggies options, organic stuff, charcuterie, pizzas, and a braised rabbit that's to die for! http://www.gjelina.com/

Umami, Stout, and Rustic Canyon have the best burgers and beer:
http://www.umami.com/umami-burger/
http://www.stoutburgersandbeers.com/

Veddernarian suggests:

Los Angeles area:

Roscoe's Chicken and Waffles (Various locations)
Tommy's Original Hamburgers (Various locations, Beverly x Rampart is 1st location)
In n Out Burger (various locations)
Chicken Dinner (Near entrance to Knotts Berry Farm)
The Oinkster (Eagle Rock, north of LA)
La Serenata de Garibaldi, great Mexican, on 1st street just west of State Street
Mexico City (mexican) on Hillhurst south of Los Feliz
Taylor's steakhouse, (La Canada, Ca)
Tito's Taco's, (West LA)
Chinese Friend's Restraunt (Chinatown, Broadway x Bernard)
Captain Cook Seafood (Redondo Beach near Redondo Pier)
Bear Pit BBQ (Mission Hills)

Orange County (CA):
Mullarkey's, great Irish bar, amazing breakfast and lunch (Newport Beach)
Crab Cooker (Newport Beach)
Sabatino's Lido Sausage Co. (Newport Beach) <- Maybe the best in this post, possibly this thread

San Diego:
Puerto la Boca (Argentinian Steakhouse) Amazingly good! (Corner of Hawthorn and India)
Point Loma Seafoods (Near Scott x Garrison)
The Red Sail (seafood) near Shelter Island Dr and Scott St.

SAN DIEGO-

http://lospanchitos.com/ (mexican)
There are LOTS of places to get GREAT mexican food in both SD and L.A but........this place is close to the hotels near the harbor where a few people are staying. Close to the Grand Hyatt hotel too! Always tasty food and nicely portioned!

More to come......

Here are some suggestions by others....

NEW YORK

Brooklyn

All the pizza places you already know about (Juliana's, Grimaldi's, Di Fara, Lucali, Spumoni Gardens, etc.) plus:

Henry Public: for the turkey leg sandwich -- it's one of the best damn sandwiches I've ever had.
Buttermilk Channel: for Doug's pecan pie sundae -- also, their duck meatloaf is insane.
Bar Tabac: a great neighborhood bistro with great bistro staples (steak frites, duck confit, coq au vin, moules frites, etc.).
Brucie: menu changes every day depending on what's fresh at the market, making for a very special and memorable meal.
Char No. 4, good fatty food and all the bourbon a person could dream of -- the pancakes for brunch are dynamite.
two8two burger, their sauce is the closest thing you'll get to In-N-Out, and their burgers are sized so that you don't feel like taking a nap after eating one.
Red Rose, a classic red-sauce joint.
The Good Fork, one of the best meals I've ever had was here -- worth the trip on the B61, and Red Hook could use your business.
Defonte's, also worth the trip on the B61 -- if you need a boozemop on Saturday, the potato & egg will right the ship (closed Sunday).
Le Gamin, another good neighborhood bistro that's a little closer to Barclays.

RKCNDY suggestions-
http://www.mccormickandschmicks.com/ (I see they went National, they used to be a 'local chain'-haven't been there for a while, so hopefully the menu is still good)

http://thecrabpotseattle.com/ <
this is the place where they put butcher paper on the table and dump out the food on the paper for you to stuff your face

http://www.ivars.com/ <
again, go to the Salmon House if you want a nice sit-down, otherwise there is a walk-up cafe on the waterfront, and watch your food! They have seating on the pier, and the seagulls are ravenous little thieves.

SouthofSeattle
southofseattle suggests:

Paseo - Cuban style sandwiches

In Seattle, 215 James St (between 2nd Ave & 3rd Ave); Pioneer Square area:

Chuck's Hole In the Wall BBQ.

PORTLAND:

Apizza Scholls - Better than any NYC or Chicago pizza I've ever had. Get there early because when they run out of dough, they're done.
Screen Door
Lardo
Pok Pok

I'll second S of S's Screen Door and Pok Pok recommendation. Both reasonably priced establishments. Prepare to wait though.

Other affordable eats I enjoy:

Killer Burger -46th & NE Sandy
Por-Que No Tacos on Mississippi Ave & E. Burnside
Fire on The Mountain Hot Wings - NE Fremont, N Interstate and E Burnside I think
Ate-Oh-Ate - Hawaiian Food
Little Big Burger - N Mississippi, NW 23rd maybe another location or two

Gluten free:

PHILLY

My2hands suggests:
Reading Terminal Market: if traveling to philly... and if you like food... the reading terminal market is one of the great foodie spots in the country and is definitely a must stop if you have the time... the weekends it gets insane packed but since these shows are on weekdays this is a great opportunity for you to check it out... they have everything you could imagaine, plus more...

frankly any roast pork sandwich in the city is the better chpice then the iconic cheesesteak in my opinion, and dinics at the market is right on top of the list...

http://www.readingterminalmarket.org/

and if you like something a little less crowded, a little smaller, with great food and a great beer selection, check out this little gem in south philly, Hawthornes... i have only been there a few times but i can definitely vouch for this joint

In Vancouver:

Tacofino (Very casual and incredibly delicious!! Good service too... might have to line up - the place is tiny with shared tables; well worth it!) - http://tacofinocommissary.com/

Yaletown Brewing Company (casual with a restaurant side and a bar side - more for beer lovers than food, but the food, particularly the pizza, is good too) - http://www.drinkfreshbeer.com/yaletown.html

Blue Water Cafe (for very good seafood including raw - fairly pricey) - http://bluewatercafe.net/

Cin Cin (modern italian... fancy pants five star) - http://cincin.net/

Vij's (outrageously good high-end Indian cuisine. Vikram Vij is a major player in the culinary world, and his restaurant justifies it. Expensive and totally worth it) - http://www.vijs.ca/

Any one know any good vegetarian places in LA? "Normal" places with veggie options are cool too. I find that if I ask for vegetarian options I usually get some list of anarchist pubs that only serve grass fed grass and beer made from pine nuts. Haha. Just some good local spots that have a few choices would be most appreciated for LA!

    The Crab Pot-$$
    Ivar's Acres of Clams-$
Ivar's Salmon House-$$ (same chain as Acres of Clams, but finer dining)

some of these places like for you to make reservations (like McCormick, Ivar's Salmon House, and Salty's) but they will do their best to seat walk-ins.

5 Point cafe, open 24 hours. Huge portions for cheap, best local dive bar greasy spoon. (an Anthony Bourdain fave). The fried cheese curds are awesome, have them with honey.

Of course there is also Beth's Cafe, The Mecca, and The Hurricane.

A little off topic, how bout any boating trips into the Pacific from Seattle? I'd love to take a trip a little off shore, maybe see some wildlife. (Orcas :D ) I know it will be cold, but I'm usually fishing into December here in NY into the Atlantic...even January if the Cod are there
