Yes, I get less shows because of it but I actually do think it works well. And this is from someone who was vehemently against it at first. I think I just overestimated our numbers, plus the prio system does a great job of spreading everything out.
I'd love to see the guy from PJ20 do a distribution analysis. You know he'd jizz his pants if they gave him the numbers.
The haters seem to have a serious problem with math, statistics and odds.

lol, this does seem to be true. And with reading the rules and how to maximize their chances. I'm astonished that so many put zero thought into their selections. There was still a bit of strategy for getting multiple shows.

If they can work out some issues I would like it more.
Like the possibility of putting in some sort of contingency option for those who want one show but want to put in for more than one possibility.
Like. Been a member for nearly 15 years and have done this dance both ways.
I understand some strategy comes into play with how you pick tickets nowadays vs the wild west days of yore. However, seniority still comes into play a bit as well...I understand everyone wants GA but the reserved section still goes by seniority as I understand it after the tickets are allocated.
Remember when we were all happy just to be in the building?
If you shoot for GA to 5 shows then list RES at those shows as #6-10 then you can't really be surprised can you? I'm not saying everyone who got shutout did that nor even a majority of the people but let your seniority work for you sometimes and just be happy to be sitting 50 feet away from the stage. In the end aren't the tunes & the feeling you get from hearing your favorite song what matters?

I appreciate the people who are honest, even if they are 2 for 2 or have had a high success rate thus far with the lottery and still DISLIKE it overall. Others simply only are LIKING it because they won, and if in their next 3 lotteries, they eventually do get shut out, then those results could very well change. But numbers are numbers and they tell a story. So far more people LIKE this system than DISLIKE it.
If you keep voting, ill keep counting for the next few days.
I absolutely love the lottery. It was zero stress compared to the repeated time-outs of an overwhelmed server, which does not function as first-come, first-serve anyway since you can get there first and time out. I got Vic tickets the old way in '07, and even though I actually got tickets (damned lucky, I know) I still remember that as one of the most stressful online experiences ever.
In the Wrigley lottery I got GA tickets, so it's easy for me to like. But even if I hadn't, I'd have much rather not gotten them in a lottery than not gotten them after hours of frustration clicking "refresh."
The kids of today should defend themselves against the Seventies Nineties.
I'm curious; how many people dislike the lottery because they go to 5+ shows per tour? I get the impression that people who like the lottery are those who can for various reasons, only afford to go to 1-2 shows per tour.
The lottery obviously makes it easier for a larger number of fans to get a pair of tickets but it makes it difficult for hardcore fans to score multiple shows. I suppose if you're someone who is used to going to a bunch of shows each tour the lottery would really suck, but if you are looking for only a couple of shows the lottery probably works in your favour (unless you live in NYC). The same thing can be said of GA. If you have a low 10C number, GA is probably the worst thing to happen in years but if your number is in the 300,000 range it's great. This survey would probably be more revealing if people stated how many shows they were looking for and roughly where they are in the 10C.
Not a huge fan, but as someone who has worked in front of a PC for six years now, I feel like I was spoiled being able to always get a pair of tickets, and on the last Canadian tour I got to see four shows, so I can understand the club wanting to get other members in there too.
I liked the idea of the random lottery for rows 1 & 2, 9 & 10, though I did see a lot of people winning twice (or more!), I always had a good seat so that isn't the end of the world. It would be nice if they added a flag to the database that lowered your odds of being a repeat front row winner.
What I really don't understand is why we aren't able to buy posters with our tickets beforehand. I know most posters end up on sale here months after the show, but I loved the peace of mind I got from knowing I didn't have to stress about damaging my poster or them running out, etc.
I think they should expand the idea and do a tour mailer if you have tickets where you can pick if you want to buy tour merch (excluding show specific merch) beforehand. Pick it up in a package with your 10C tickets or have them ship it from the warehouse. I figure that would save the band some weight to make touring a little cheaper (less gas, plus we would be paying the shipping anyhow so no loss there!) I would pay the shipping charges to be able to not stand in line and enjoy a beer before the show.
I would still prefer a smooth running website purchase system, but since that doesn't seem to work, I think the lottery is our best option for now.
I love GA. a rock show for me doesn't have seats. since riots would probably break out on here if they had an all GA floor, I also think this is a good solution.

Like,
because I did have a "chance" for GA tickets, and therefore a "chance" at being on the rail or very close. As a 8 year member I would likely never get that close otherwise. Unfortunately I didn't win GA this time (for Calgary), which I thought I had a great chance. So if the RES seats are crap, I may have a different opinion.
Also, many on this board talk about attending 4, 5 , 8 - 10 shows, so it doesn't matter, they'll win a few and worry about the rest. For those among us who can really only get to one show just because of life, work, kids,...that lottery becomes a nail biter. Enjoy the tour,...where ever you may stand or sit!

2-for-18 on lottery.
11-for-13 on F5.
1/2 so far.
The disappointment of getting shut out for Wrigley paled in comparison to the frustration of PJ20.
I was probably like 4/5 during the F5 years. But so much wasted time.

However, the luck of the draw is major concern. Some end up getting ALL while others get NONE. :?:
