Assuming you buy a 3rd ticket and then just bring her down with you to the field to sit on your lap shouldn't be an issue (nevermind - empty seats suck - send 2 people from wherever your 3rd ticket is down to your original 2 seats, and then you 3 can all have our own seats).

But DON'T bring her to the 10C BBQ!!! That is totally inappropriate for one thing - it's an adult party, and no one wants some 7 year old there staring at them as they get wasted! I'm surprised you are even considering that to be an option. It's not a tea party. It's a rock n roll party, and she isn't Drew Barrymore. Secondly, it's a 21+ event, so she wouldn't be allowed in anyway I don't think. I say sell your BBQ entry tix for $75 each, which is what they went for in the secondary BBQ only lottery.

    1) buy her any old ticket. Go to that seat. Find two people in that row and give them your lower bowl seats. They win and you get to see the show with your kid.
    That's a great idea.

I'd love to bring my daughter, she's 8, a huge fan, but no way is she ready for a PJ show. She's seen Ed live a couple of times. The 2nd time the crowd was obnoxious, outdoor venue, but they were having a good time and I understand that. It really hindered the way I could enjoy the show because I was worried about her. My husband and I are flying in, we have GA. Would love to bring her just to see the city, but would require some sort of sitting service. Maybe we can go in on a "baby" sitting service at the hotel, this way the 2 would be together? Anyway, a thought. I'd like her to see and experience Chicago. We however have the option of leaving her home with the grandparents.
BTW, we did the old trick with the tickets at the Ed show and had no issues.

Our daughter LOVES to travel so she got super excited when we told her that she was going to come with us to Chicago after all. Obviously I want to share my favorite band with her so I thought I would try to figure out a way to make it work for Wrigley as that would really make her Chicago trip a memorable one for years to come. But you're right, I probably wouldn't enjoy the show as much only because I would be constantly worried about her and if she could see or not so it's probably best to not take her.

Maybe they'll finally announce a fall tour and they'll swing through the Bay Area and I can take her then.

So.... you found child care again??
I don't see why a 7 year old would wreck the concert experience for you (not that I'm a fan of little kids at rock concerts... I hope you aren't sitting next to me!) ... just don't go to the BBQ, send 2 other people in your stead, and bring her along to Chicago.

I hope it all works out for you, RM. I have 4 children (ages 23 to 2) of my own and wow, I understand! Logistics for a concert trip can be frustrating with few options for small ones. It'll be a shame if you can't all enjoy it together. Best hopes your way, man!

So you already told her she was going with you and your wife to Chicago, and now you're pulling the rug out from under her and telling her she's not going now?

Geez! Welcome to life, full of heartache and disappointment!

LOL, no she IS coming to Chicago with us. I meant that I will probably just abandon looking at ways to get her into the concert. More than likely her and the wife will stay back and do something "girly" that night while I go to the concert.

The BBQ is not a 21+over event as I've been in contact with the Ten Club regarding getting her into the BBQ. But they did confirm that she would need a ticket and they don't have any additional tickets remaining.

It's starting to look like I may have an extra BBQ ticket and and extra field reserve ticket to get rid of.... :corn:

:!: Wow, I'm really surprised that 10C is even making a booze-soaked party an all ages affair. :fp: ... then again, maybe I'm not surprised.

I really don't think this event will turn into that bad of a booze soaked party plus I'd like to think I'm a fairly responsible/protective Dad that would definitely remove my child from any situation if ever got to that point.

Judging by this thread though it's apparent that most of you wouldn't give me a Parent of the Year award for even considering the thought of bringing my child to a BBQ w/alcohol or to a rock concert at such a young age.

Personally I don't think it's all that unusual myself, but then again I was only 9 years old when my Grandmother took me to my first rock concert to see KISS. Now how cool is that?!

I just noticed I was coming up on my 1,000th post on here which led me to look back at some of the thread discussions I've started over the years. This thread had me in stitches going through some of the comments when I realized I never followed up and shared how things ended up that night.

In short, I went to the BBQ by myself (and I could've easily brought her as it was super chill in the suite, almost to the point of being boring) got a wave from Eddie as he was leaving Wrigley that night after soundcheck.

I ended up buying a $600 field reserve ticket to get her on the field with us as I couldn't risk having security say she couldn't come to our seats with us and we made our way to our seats and didn't intrude on anyone's space. Matter of fact, the couple we sat next to absolutely adored our daughter and thought it was cool that we brought her along.

Then the rain delay came, which you can tell by the pictures, my daughter absolutely loved!!! As the rain delay wore on, I was more worried about my wife wanting to pull the cord than my daughter getting bored, but we made it and ended up having the night of our lives! She didn't last until the end of the show, but that's only because my wife was getting tired at that point so they decided to head back to the hotel after the main set was over. So I escorted them out of the ballbpark and got them an Uber and went back inside to catch the encore.

And thankfully I got them back to the hotel safely when I did as it was an absolute shit show afterwards trying to find a Uber or a taxi as the train had broken down that night. I ended up walking like 20 blocks before I finally caught and shared an Uber with another couple back to my hotel that morning around 4am but I wouldn't trade a moment of that night for my life!

Hopefully those who were totally against the idea of bringing a 7 year old to a concert have grown a little wiser over the years and maybe had kids of their own to know now that what I did as a parent was pretty fucking cool and done with the best intentions of wanting to share my passion with my child and provide her with a memory of a lifetime.

^^^love this. So many great rain delay stories from that night. Great picture of your daughter loving the rain! I'm sure it was an unforgettable experience for you both.

Nice job, Dad! Thanks for sharing. I sure hope we’ll get a bootleg of that show someday so you two can relive it together again. My oldest daughter just turned 5 and has been wanting to go to a PJ or Eddie show for about 2.5 years. Thought her number would get called with Ohana this year, but who knows now. We’ll be looking forward to the day. Hope it goes as well as yours did (minus the rain delay).
